I noticed lately a lot of LED globe replacements for H4 halogen globes on the market.
There are hundreds listed on ebay over recent times. Has anyone tried any of these yet ? Interesting most have internal fans to keep them cool. Some have small can bus/starter modules and some only need to plug the original H4 plug into the rear of the new globe. They have some very high lumens ratings so I wounder how much better they are in real life compared to my 65w H4 halogen globes.
One area I would like to improve on is the current draw on the hatch. When the A/C is running, electric fuel pump and both radiator fans cut in with the headlights on high beam, I can notice a dimming of the lights for 2-3 seconds till the alternator catches up. (running a Bosch 85amp alternator ).
Quick calculations tells me the Halogen globes draw about 10amps on high beam
65w x 2 = 130w
divided by input voltage 12.8 = 10.15amps. Total estimate lumens of both globes 1,600
As mentioned I would like to know if anyone is using them, if so there performance, reliability, brand and cost.
