Hi just wondering if anyone has used a 4l60e transmission on a carb LS1 and if so what controller have you used for the auto trans?

There is a few different controllers out there now.
We used an aftermarket controller for a toyota trans behind an LS in a land cruiser.
I cant remember the name was in a blue case, was very capable at doing the job, came with software and manual.
I know it was able to be used on GM.
Worked very well.
Think painless wiring do a witing harness and controller.

We had a local tuner help set it up.

Hi stav, if you're using a gmh ecu ect for the ignition, you could simply use that, otherwise I've seen the tci used & seemed good. Gary.

Just Google some US sites. MSD and B&M have trans controllers. They are cheap enough too to fit under the $1000 GST limit so you can simply get one mailed to you without paying another 10%. Look on Summit.

Also have a look at Wholesale Automatics site, they recommend a brand as well that they sell.

I'm considering putting a 4L60E from a VR-VS behind a SBC in one of my HK's, will be looking for the same sort of thing. Only looking at these rather than LS 4L60/65E as I don't have to buy a special torque converter for it to bolt to a stock SBC. My biggest hassle is getting it to drive a cable speedo, so investigating whether the output shaft from a VN-VP 4L60 can be put into a 4L60E so that a speedo drive gear can be fitted and the extension housing replaced with a VN-VP one so that it has a speedo drive. I know I could just use the 4L60 but I sort of like the idea of having a readily adjustable transmission. You can buy drive units from MSD or B&M to drive your speedo but the cost is as much as the transmission controller.

I was running a TCI ez-TCU for my 4l60e behind carbed 355. I had heaps of troubles with it and ended up going full manual. Mine is believed to be a wiring issue and so if you decide to go down this path keep the transmission wiring well away from the ignition wiring. Also TPS needs min 0.3v at idle
