All the V8's (253/308) had twin pea shooters.

There's definitely a 253 single system listed in both my LX parts catalogue and the aftermarket ones
But I would guess the SS would have had the twin
As with all 308's

Did all SS have twin pipes? I thought the 6cyl SS had a dual outlet at least on the same side. Or is my memory wrong? I think the reason the 5.0L got twin pipes in Torana was the single V8 system had a tiny tailpipe, 1.62" from memory which was way too small for the 5.0L, whereas in Holden the single system tailpipe was 1 7/8" or thereabouts and was standard on all V8 other than 350 GTS (although I think late HQ XW8 (auto only) got a single system standard) and HQ SS. The twin system became standard on 5.0L GTS in HX.

Are you sure? I'm near certain i've seen original press or brochure photos of the SS 6cyl with a twin outlet pipe at the back, possibly all 6cyl hatchback did? Parts catalogue shows 6cyl exhaust "except SS", and lists a different tailpipe extension for hatchback 6cyl. I can't find any decent 6cyl SS brochure pictures from the rear, side on shows a chrome extension. I just had it in the back of my mind that the 3300 SS had the twin outlet (single exhaust though), might be a brain fart though!

The 6cyl SS had a single 1 5/8 tailpipe. Part no:9939730
Although Part no:9939645 was chrome extension listed as x2 for SS 6cyl
The SL 253 V8 also had a single 1 5/8 tailpipe.

for SS , I sort of remember ( it was a long time ago) that the 6cyl had the twin ( 2pipes together) and the V8 had the dual ( one pipe each side) ??

Muffler for 253 single exhaust is Part No: 92001848 the exact same as all 6cylinder LX Torana's.

The L31 308 SS Hatch Had the Standard Pea Shooter Twin System, i am sure the 4.2 V8 SS Hatch had the Twin System as well, I recall seeing them with Twin System on 4.2 SS's back in the day as well.

I think the tyres on them were the widest 13" tyres available (made) in Australia. Those put on the GTS Holden etc at the same time (ER70H14) were the biggest 14" at the same time.
