Many of you will have known of Charles, most recently for his involvement as the Event Director of FoSC. The Festival of Sporting Cars evolved from the desire of a small group of dedicated individuals to stage motor racing events where enthusiasts could compete simply for the sheer fun and pleasure of it.
From the Festival of Sporting Cars web page:
It is with a great deal of sadness that The Festival of Sporting Cars informs all those with an interest in motorsport, of the passing of Event Director and "all round good bloke", Charles Jardine: - Husband -Father -Teacher - Musician - Motorsport Competitor, Official and Event Director Extraordinaire.
From the halycon days at Warwick Farm in the 60's; through Amaroo Park in the 70's, 80's and 90's; to the Festival of Sporting Cars in the 21st Century - Charles "had been there and done that". If you wanted to compete, or just become involved in club level motorsport, Charles was your friend - unless you misbehaved.
Good friend Lisa Tobin-Smith puts it succinctly, "he encouraged motorsport instead of motor racing".
