Many of you will have known of Charles, most recently for his involvement as the Event Director of FoSC. The Festival of Sporting Cars evolved from the desire of a small group of dedicated individuals to stage motor racing events where enthusiasts could compete simply for the sheer fun and pleasure of it.

From the Festival of Sporting Cars web page:

It is with a great deal of sadness that The Festival of Sporting Cars informs all those with an interest in motorsport, of the passing of Event Director and "all round good bloke", Charles Jardine: - Husband -Father -Teacher - Musician - Motorsport Competitor, Official and Event Director Extraordinaire.
From the halycon days at Warwick Farm in the 60's; through Amaroo Park in the 70's, 80's and 90's; to the Festival of Sporting Cars in the 21st Century - Charles "had been there and done that". If you wanted to compete, or just become involved in club level motorsport, Charles was your friend - unless you misbehaved.
Good friend Lisa Tobin-Smith puts it succinctly, "he encouraged motorsport instead of motor racing".

Steve,

thanks for that. Charles assisted me in the first meeting with the FOSC group. I will always have a massive smile on my face as I came across the start finish line on 8 yr old tyres sliding it at full noise with the FOSC instructor in the passenger seat egging me on to " give it a bit more '

charles was a person who got me on that track with minimal fuss and no hoo ha !

He also gave me a reference to run at bathurst 2016 for CAMS to achieve my full license and live the dream in the torana.

To Charles I am eternally great full.

No phone call was too much to return or an email back.

G

to Charles I am eternally great full.

Thanks Steve.....Charles didnt know me from a bar of soap when we first turned up at FOSC...and yet despite running an event, was happy to stop and make sure we got ourselves sorted. A true old school guy and a true gentleman.

Sad to hear the news mate.

I beleive his son Rob  is also a FOSC guy...hope he continues in his Dad's footsteps.

Sad loss indeed.....like he was known to say , words to the effect that ""this is all about having fun, not sheep stations""

RIP Charles, it was because of your efforts to organise FOSC at Bathurst in 08 that I was able to get some racing laps around Mt Panorama - thanks so much mate!
