What do they look like?

I thought I didn't have mine but am now thinking maybe I do?

Also are these only in the GTR or all LC's?

Thanks in advance.

The black door trim tops go behind the door trim cards and bend around the top of the door ,then you have the stainless steal door card trim retainers that run along the top of the trim .I think they possibly came with LC 2 doors and not just GTR ,someone else may confirm that but not sure.Image used from this site.

Only LC 82911 models have the stainless steel trim retainer strips and the metal trim tops.

Ok, thanks guys, still not really sure how the metal tops fit or if I have them, at this stage I am thinking not, but I have one trim top that I was given, no idea where it goes though lol.

I'll work it out.

The metal tops are stapled to the top edge of the door trim board which is then covered with the vinyl trim.

Might be better if I put up a pic of what I've got and see if anyone can tell me if they are fitted or not lol.

I'm still not sure.

I guess once I see how they are fitted I will be able to tell.

Do your door trims go all the way to your window, with a hole for the door lock pin?
Or, is the top part of your door painted and the door trim stop short of the window by two-three inches?

If door trim goes all the way to window, you have the tops. If the door trim stops short, you don't

Sounds like I have them then, but doesn't look like they come off.

They have screw holes in them too.

Over the weekend I removed the vinyl from the passenger side one which is what made me ask the question

Looking at your build thread you have LJ GTR door trims. Thus you have a vinyl garnish glued onto the top of the doors and inner rear quarters.

What you removed was the vinyl garnish to reveal the structure underneath. As your car is an LC GTR it is correct to have those screw holes for attachment of the stainless trims as per the following pic.

Has anyone tried something from another model and modified them? I thought I read someone used xy falcon ones but they fall short in length?
I am chasing the trim tops and stainless trim that attaches to the door also but apart from the 2 pics above have no idea what they look like?

Using Ford ones would devalue the car too much and you'd feel bad every time you went near it.  :spoton:

Long shot question but does anyone have a set they can loan as I have someone that can make me a set but I need something to copy.
The trim tops for the door cards I'm talking about. Not the stainless bits in the above pics.
I believe the below is what I am chasing

i enquired about making those 5 years ago - a local engineer shop said 1 part was pretty difficult, you will need to make a die to make them

would love to see someone remake them..

of course you can get them made but the $$ i could to but unless you have your own cnc or someone who will make a die then get ready for the $$$

the die is required for around the locking knob.. other than that you can bend it, shape

thats the reason for the cost - now if you make them and they charge say 2k for the die and after that only $50 per set and then you sell them for $500 per set you will eventually make money

(thats just figures plunked out of the air - it may cost less or more the die but from memory it was around that much quoted to me)
