Who can name the most successful GMH (later Holden) Series at Bathurst 1963-2015, based upon race wins?

Yes, VE has one, VEII has three. Others are all one or two if you go by the sheetmetal and official results. I think VH has two wins by the same actual car. Not sure if VT is the same.

It still wouldn't be the answer. If you said "Torana" and allowed the 5 wins it'd be swamped by "Commodore" with 23 wins.

Technically not VEs

True, but race cars from the General's stable in general haven't been a road going vehicle since L34. Just become less and less so since then.

I think the original Commodore was an Opel, but the original Torana was a Vauxhall!

if so....how did those ""super fragile"" Opel 4 speeds cop 500km around the mountain , behind a 186?...or were they all rooted at the end of the race?

One survived 1968 in a HK and finished 28th, and then 3rd in 1970 on the same lap as the GT-HO II's. Not bad for a pissy little gearbox!

Confession time. In the late 80s I put banana skins in a JB Camira gearbox when I was selling it. It did seem to make a small difference for a couple of hours. (There is also a diff in there to keep quiet as well.)

Rebuilt/replaced many a diff that people have put bananas and or saw dust in...

Down right pain in the ass to clean. Especially the saw dust.
