Fellas.. I barely have time to reply to this thread let alone get anything done on the car!!!

Just throw a cover over it and come back later.

Doesnt matter if it’s a day, a week, a month or a year. It will still be patiently waiting for you!

Fella's... I'm seeing a bit of spare time coming up in my dairy in in few weeks and plan to put some of that time into the Torana... Question on the Chassis connects to rear control arm mounts... I've looked a couple of pics on-line and I'm leaning toward the solution that goes in the rear passenger foot-well area as apposed to under the car... for the sake of attaching directly to the back of the control arm mount. Would you guys agree on this approach? Found this picture... this approach?

Good to hear.
I think thats a far better way than hanging from underneath, know a few that have done it that way, works well.
Another way is to tie it in to the cage.

If you don't care about your rear footwells, then doing it like the photo is certainly a better solution. More direct transfer of load, and much better beam design.

I didn't do it that way because I was not willing to make packaging compromises like that for my rear passengers.

Mines that way and only issue is carpet does not sit flat, bulges at the sides a little, not overly bad fits great else where.

Well, can’t say I made a tonne of progress, but I welded a bunch of stuff.
Chassis connects done. I actually got some of that part done about 6 months ago, but never got to finish them till today.
There was about a billion small screw holes in the floor pan that needed welding up, so got those sorted.
If I have the energy, I’ll get a few nights in this week and see if I can get the rest of the underside finished and ready for primer.

Not too much to look at to be honest. I went with the advice on the chassis connect and cut the floor.

Looking a the pic, you can see this old girl has had an interesting life. It looks like a patchwork quilt under there...

I also did the trans tunnel about 6 months ago... I don't think I posted about that. Came up great. I'll sniff around and see if I took any progress photos of that part and post them.

As you mentioned, Shiney005 the weather has been completely crap to do anything outside. Its even been too cold to paint, so I'll just continue with all the other fab and welding and then paint it when things warm up a bit.

Thanks for posting. Here in SA if you don't have heating you can rule out painting May to October.

I love this project so much!

I certainly hope you catch the bug a bit harder and give us some more of that sweet build porn soon.

The tunnel looks really classy.

Here is a pic of the tunnel butt welded in. Its had a lick of paint since then. You may notice the extra panel welded in under the clutch pedal position. The pan had the crap beaten out of it in the past - likely to clear headers I'd imaging. I cut it out and welded in a new piece.

Incidentally, I've had issues with both my TIG and MIG welders which has been part of the reason for a lack of progress. I went through both of them yesterday to find that the guy who borrowed my MIG had changed the tip out for a 1.2mm (I use 0.9)  and the gas diffuser is busted! That explains the bird shit that its been welding! The TIG... I replaced every consumable, changed the hand piece and hose, changed the Argon bottle, changed everything... thinking I was having a bad run with the Argon... works out there was a cracked o-ring in the regulator. Would never have thought that would have been the issue given that its on the pressure side of the regulator (no venturi effect). But, TIG is working again and I put my spare torch/lead on the MIG till I get a new gas diffuser...

I plan to be more on to this project moving forward. I had clear plans of getting a heap done over summer and have it all in primer and at least the underside, engine bay and interior in white, but I blew a shoulder gasket again. Its mostly better now, so...

I'm dribbling crap now...

Hey Heath... you have a foot rest to? Man... I just don't get around the forum that much to be honest... I'm a terrible community member!!! I should really get with the family shouldn't I!!!

guys...I have chipped away at a couple of other projects in between things. I may post a few things here if it is ok with the Moderators... things that are somewhat generic in nature that can be used across any manufacturer. Alternator rebuild... Wiring for EFI, I may be building a sump from scratch shortly, so fabrication sort of stuff and how I go about it.... thoughts?

Haha that's all good. There has been a lot of content on here historically, although not that much to keep up with nowadays. Anyway yes when it was still on the rotisserie I cut into my floor and added a foot rest. Something that Toranas dearly lack.

I think those other generic projects (if they aren't for this car specifically) could be put in those relevant sections like the 'Electrical' and 'Fabrication' sub-forums.

Sorry there hasn’t been any progress on this car for ages…

I have been in the shed working on things…. But not this car though…

This one has needed some attention…

I’ll be back onto the race Hatch once this one is done.

So much to do, so little time.

I recently had a cage built for my new car by brad Stacey.
He pulled out the plans he wrote down for your car, we briefly had a chat about your car🙂

That hatch looks cool. Certainly have to have a street car as well as a track car.
