Ray requested my real story. Seems he doesn't believe the first.

The year was 1994.

Was in my final year of high school.

My girlfriend, Sue, was round at my place as my Mum and stepdad had gone out for lunch. We weren't aloud in my bedroom alone when they were home.

Sue was a half cast. Australian Father, Malaysian Mother. And at 17 years old, everything was were it was supposed to be. Seemingly unaffected by gravity. Must have weighed in around 45kgs. A mere touch would induce a reaction similar to that of a water breaking on a knocked up Shiela. Life was good.

So, it was only weeks earlier that she had stole my virginity. And I appreciated the fact my wrists could take a break from their daily chores.

Anyway, on this particular Saturday, the front door opened and footsteps came in. Right at that moment when its breaking point. You know, it's either keep going or forget about it.... We had to forget about it as I thought it was the oldies getting home. Fortunately my bedroom was down stairs and the house was entered by the top level on a steep block.

We casually strolled upstairs, I kept my hands in my pocket, to hold the eager snake down, hoping it might just be my brother or sister. Unfortunately it was the olds AND my step brother dropping in to pick up some clothes to head down the coast for the night.

My stepbrother was in the cool gang, I was not. But this afternoon he asked if we wanted to go out for the night. Yes was the answer.

We run downstairs, grab a change of clothes and walk out the front.

My step brothers mate is sitting out the front in a chateau mauve XU-1. The Cunning Stunt us that loud if sounds like a bloody top fuel drag car... Buts it's only a little six. frOck it sounded tough.

We jumped in and headed on to the highway from shailer park to Broadbeach. No 4 lane concrete motorway, no speed cameras, and minuscule fines if ya get pulled over anyway.... Getting done doing 100 over the limit was 6 points and $250.

So Brett comes on to the on ramp sideways, slowly feeding the power of the mighty red six. I'm nursing a massive hard on and I reckon my half cast girl would rather be sitting next to Brett, due to his awesome car. Apparently my army green 250 non cross flow, stock as a rock, bench seat XB falcon was no longer cool.

Anyways, wasn't long till the triple carbed beast hit the end of the speedo, and it barely went below for the whole 18 minute trip.... See in the old days, cints kept left. The right lane was for 130+....only.

So, on that day, I fell in love with the little Torana, with a triple carbed heart.... I also ended up with Sue nursing my hard on... But that's a story for another time..

Hey Guys ,Thought Id share my torana turning moment,
I grew up in a family where the monaro was king, My dad had a HK Gts 307 auto, but now collects bulldozers,My oldest brother has a HQ Gts coupe, 350 factory manual which he still owns today,my middle brother had a HT 186 Gts monaro which had a 350 chev.
At the time I had my HG gts monaro with a factory 308 4 spd. I remember it cost me $6500.Good car, probably only bought it to keep my family happy, I also had a HR Special as a daily.
All my mates were buying aussie muscle cars, remember this was 25 years ago and prices were affordable. My best mate still to this day, showed up with a genuine LH slr 5000. This car would run flat 13s with M21 and a 2;78 ratio nine inch.
Fast for me, was my brothers HT monaro. Chev muncie 4sp and 3;70 nine inch, Such a tough car in its day.
So I jumped in with my mate for a drive. Out on the farm, we pulled out onto the road ,Rolled to a stop and then he planted it,1st went to 80ks shifted into 2nd gear, speed climbed to 130ks, then shifted into 3rd, it took us to about 180ks then hit 4th then he backed off, the Slr was so well planted to the road I was in love.
My monaro would of been suffing from speed wobbles by now, I never took my HG past 130ks, because that was my driving style.
The torana just felt so safe at high speeds. All I remember of this car was it had a performer manifold,780 vac secondary holley, Mick Marriot heads and lumpy cam.
No flares, light weight and still had factory paint,it was just awesome.Vowed I would own one, one day, Ive got my hatch,But that would be sold if i could find a Similar LH.
Unfortunately my mate sold this car to buy a low mileage HZ GTS monaro ,as he had lost his license twice owning the LH, As all stories go, the next owner ended up writing the car off, going backward into someones carport at 100 kph.
Flip side is, mate ended up redeeming himself and bought a kickass SS hatchback.
Toranas for life.[attachment=66637:20160907_190401-768x768.jpg]

One day I will have a Torana . Green with blackouts . Flares and reverse scoop . Twin exhaust and drop tank . 350 carbie unit . You could say that day was very life changing . How could seeing a car have such an affect on a person ? . Although I have an SS Hatch , I would prefer a 350 4 door SLR5000 ( replica ) . At the very least my will request shall request a green coffin with blackouts . Lowered by family members . PS   How about some more stories . So many members so many untold stories .

I remember it like it was only yesterday.

It was a cold, windy night as we docked in Sydney after my final stint in ‘nam.  It was August 1973, coincidentally about the same time as the release of the special Bathurst XU-1.

As we disembarked, there was a sea of family members, partners etc. at the dock welcoming loved one’s home.

Burnsy (My Platoon captain)’s gal, who just happened to be one of the hottest chicks out, was leaning against a strike me pink XU-1 that looks like it had just rolled off the factory floor.  Despite the cold, she was wearing the shortest little skirt I had ever seen, huge platforms, and one of those really tight turtle neck jumpers, she kicked up one leg and gave this cheeky little smile and wave…. After months in the jungle, all I could think about was pink on pink.

A few years later, was at a reunion and Burnsy was still with his gal, Alice.  Unfortunately he had a few too many and after a rather loud, public argument, ended up leaving with one of the male nurses, I always thought he was a bit of a fudge packer, turns out he picked the colour of the XU-1.

Alice headed towards the exit, but tripped, breaking a heel off her leopard skin printed high heels.   I was on it like a hobo on a ham sandwich.   A  couple of rivets borrowed from my britches later and it was good to go.

She was a little distraught and asked could I walk her to her car.

As we exited the hall, the cold night air hit her blouse, the movement beneath was instant and I found it difficult to focus on anything else.

We got to the car, the same XU-1 I had drooled over years earlier.  After a few questions, she proceeded to give me a run down on all the modifications she had done.  Was quite surprising for a car now only 3-4 years of age.  Thankfully Alice removed the 202, which she described as being about as exciting to drive as a short bus in a snow storm.  In its place a proper 308…. Damn this chick was perfect !

To cut a long story short, I ended up getting my pink on pink dream.  And to this day, despite loving an XU-1, dislike strike me pink, people who think a 202 is fast and gay Daisy Chains with hot girlfriends !

Sounds like a story I read in the Penthouse forums once

My Torana story starts waaaaay back in the last century in the year of 1978 in a small country town in the Upper Hunter region of NSW Where I was working at an AMPOL service station as a bower boy/ Datsun dealership,do you remember AMPOL service stations bower boys and Datsuns. I t all happened one day when this LJ XU-1 driven by a young lady came in for fuel and I spotted it and thought WOW cool car.The Torry came in at least once a week for petrol and the more I saw it the more I wanted it.I would fuel it up and would ask if I could check under the bonnet just so I could spy the engine bay, well that was it I definitely wanted it but thought just a dream.

This went on for about 12 months or so. Then one day it drove in but not for fuel this time it just parked and the lady and her husband which I found out later went inside. Thought nothing of it, came in for fuel a couple more times. Then on this one particular day the car came in and parked up not for fuel. Unbeknown to me they traded it in for a DATSUN but not any datsun but the racing model version the SX. I found out they neede a car with four doors as the lady was with child. So without furder ado I arranged with my boss to buy it for the princely sum of $3550 which was a lot of money in 1979 being an apprentice/ bowser boy Being a small town every body knew every body and I got to know them, and the Kevin the owner came up to me down the street years later and said he regretted selling and told me that if I ever wanted sell it let him know.

That Torana is still with me today and will be with me to the day I die, then my kids will inherit it and hopefully use it wisely.

So there you have it, my Torana story.

As we are all different Don't Get Me Wrong . I remember the sound of that SLR 5000 as I walked through the streets of Elizabeth . Was I hooked before the roller door opened ? . Not really sure . re: my first post . Ok so lots of cars getting these up-dated LS motors and fuel injected set ups in there Torana . I understand the concept . Shits loads of power with low fuel usage plus another 100 positive things to long to list . As a drag car YES . Every day driver Maybe . Impressive in my eyes NO . Sorry to offend . The noise of that SLR 5000 around 1988 . FRQSEEK YES . If there was a cd made called the Holdens sound of the Carbie Twins I would by it . Just wondering what is the general consensus when . You hear a Torana start up and the carbie noise has been eliminated ? When you look under the bonnet and see a LS motor now taken over the duties of the Carbie . Please Note : have warned my security to be active next few weeks . And currently off Line :) .

There are two memories regarding Torana’s but I’m not sure which one came first.

1.      Late 80’s Street Machine had a Tangerine XU-1 as a feature in the Summernats Cruise.  I remember covering one of my school folders in it.  It was my favourite folder and more than likely remained closed with me daydreaming about this Torana than actually opening the folder and doing any school work.

2.      Late 80’s again walking home from my mates place in Shailer Park when I heard this car coming slowish up behind me (60 zone), it was coughing and farting down the street and I was giggling and thinking to myself ‘what piece of crap is this coming down the road, running on about 3 cylinders’.  I hadn’t turned around to look what the car was and let it just cruise along as it hadn’t sparked any interest.  Well I was expecting some rusty sh!tbox leaking oil and blowing smoke, but had to take a double take as this Cyan Blue LJ 2 door snorted and pig rooted pass me.  Wholly  fr0ck I thought and looking back it was probably my first introduction to big cams.  Well this Torana snorted and bucked it way to the end of the street and turned left, where upon she decided to clear her throat and fr0ck my again she was gone like a bat out of hell and that was the day I knew I had to have one.

I tried to buy a LC GTR off a bloke I was delivering pizzas with in the early 90’s for $2k, but my oldman said it was too powerful so ‘no deal’ as he had to go guarantor for the bank loan .  Well a few years went past and I had my own money so I got myself a Kermit Green 4 door LX.  It was a 4 cylinder Opel when I purchased it for $600, perfect body zero rust.  I threw in a V8 cross member, 253, Traumatic and 9”, keep the 1900 badge on the back, stock wheels and hub caps, and the 4cyl grill, my first sleeper.

Anyway the LJ 2 door was what I really wanted, so the LX went and I purchased a LJ 2 door taxi pack in 96.
