I am after some thoughts on what I can do to change the SS on my astray.
Hatch is not an SS so don't want to make out it is something it isn't.
Best I can think of is painting the letters black but that might just look poxy.

Leave it as is bud.  Most Torry's now have a replica SS / SL/R interior and as you have the silver dash already, it suits the car SS or not!

I've got a woodgrain 'SL' one that you could paint in portland grey (or whatever the colour is) to make it match.

I'll take the SS one off your hands and give you a few bucks if you want

Hatch is not an SS so don't want to make out it is something it isn't.

Straight to ebay, find yourself a replacement dash and you should have some coin left over.

For LX:

S: Black 'Caribou' grain fascia & Torana ashtray.
SL: Lighter 'Teak' timber-tone fascia & SL ashtray.

Sunbird: Lighter 'Teak' timber-tone fascia & Sunbird ashtray.

SL/R & SL/R 5000: Silver (Portland Grey) facia & SL/R ashtray.
SS: Silver (Portland Grey) fascia & SS ashtray.

^ do not do this. A silver dash without SS or SL/R ashtray is as poxy as it can get, it will devalue your car to anyone after an original look. Imo, stick to the same theme when it comes to dash & ashtray.

No I haven't, I can only assume it's the car in his avatar picture, which is a papaya A9X lookalike.

don't want to make out it is something it isn't.

If it's the car in your avatar, it already looks like something it isn't. lol

Not that there's anything wrong with it, it looks very nice.

Here is the thing, car has been built with all the bits I like, not meant to be anything.

Its not a replica of anything. Hence the SS name on the ashtray doesnt fit.

As for just changing the dash, umm no, took that long to get it in there, not pulling it out again. The main dash panel is unique as it is a textured version of the grey so near impossible to replicate.

I think I will just have to get used to the A9X and SS replica comments.

Here is the interior. Thanks Cindy & Glenn plus also Dash Original.

As you can see I picked a rare fashion pack option for the UC & GTS (see page 258 of Torana Tough) and modified the concept to delete the red out of the tartan.

^ The A9X indeed did come with a fashion pack option so the dash does suit it.

I was going to suggest getting a custom dash but you just mentioned the effort you went to get that one.

If it's textured silver then it was probably a caribou (crinkle) or wood tone dash that's been painted, so you could get yourself the ashtray with matching finish and paint that silver?

It could also be an LH dash and the options are as follows:

For LH.
S: Black 'Caribou' grain fascia & Torana ashtray.
SL: Dark 'Black Walnut' timber-tone fascia & SL ashtray.
SL/R: Dark 'Black Walnut' timber-tone fascia & SL/R ashtray.
SL/R 5000: Black 'Caribou' grain fascia & SL/R ashtray.

First red A9X I had seen as a kid had that red fashion pack, I thought they were all like that at the beginning, I think the grey looks very cool! I would leave it alone if it was mine.

well now you have shown the whole interior, don't change a bloody thing, is awesome!

Those fashion pack trims are cool as ! The general theme reminds me of the VN/p SS seats... But they aren't quite as "loud".

So Is it Cindy I should be talking to, who got you your custom fashion pack trim? Wonder what shipping two front seats, some rear seats, and door trims to and from would cost....
