Shelly,

I don't think there is a 'SS' flare and a 'A9X' flare - there are some wider than others is all.

Ruts did a great 'how to' thread on fitting flares a while back: http://www.gmh-toran...tart-to-finish/

Hope that is of some help.

Cheers, TB

G'day Shelly, just the other day I was wondering how your hatch was coming along?

It may just be the camera angle but that looks like a very oddly-shaped flare you have there? If that front edge really kicks back so far then I'd say you have a bit of fibreglassing to do.

Actually, if it's as bad as it looks then I'd be looking for another pair of flares myself, it will be a lot of work to get the shape right.

Is the wheel arch already cut and finished or is the work seen there from previously?

Either way, you should consider taking out as much steel as possible, to the point of it almost getting difficult to get the bolts in to attach the flare.

^ This.

The top two bolts on mine actually thread into nuts welded on the outside of the panel

Shelly,

Are you going to pinch the inner to outer panels and weld per A9X style after cutting or are you going to weld in a section between?

FWIW I went with the welded in section - looks and feels 'tidier':

so i have received the received the new flare kit and i would not wish it upon anybody .

the best part of it would be the rear flares yes both are different and not 140,, they thinner than my old ones

the front ones also different each side .

the front spoiler gaps to much at front near blinker ..need to trim a lot off and add more in other spots ,the brake ducts 1 had to get cut in half as it is bigger than the other side and wouldn~t go on car and the side parts that wrap around to meet with front wheel flare driver side 8 mm longer than other side more repairs.

i get nothing is easy but for the price and the length of time the fella said he been doing it for should have been closer fit 1 front spoiler has a different profile to other side i get they supposed to be different in someways ...but its not good

for the price i payed = and was sent a cracked bonnet scoop i did get a better one made and sent to me

and the bolts wheel flare bolts 7 good the rest different = different heads ?

= if only i could have gotten a refund  ...p.s sorry for winging

That sucks. Where did you buy them?

And as above. Remove as much as possible. I have about 2mm from the edge to the bottom of the bolt hole. Wish I could take more lol

Very hard to find anyone who makes good flares, every set I have put on a car needs work! There are a lot of suppliers bragging on the Facebook and forums about the quality of their products, and still they need work. How hard can it be to make a good set? They certainly charge enough for them.

I got my fibreglass stuff over 23 years ago from Raider Industries near Brisbane, the front flares and spoiler fit like a glove, almost fall onto the car by them selves, simply could not be better, but the rears were the exact opposite, total pig, nice shape, same side for side, except they curved inward compared to the wheel arch opening front and rear, was a tug-o-war to get them anywhere near the wheel arches, and only more recently did I cut them up and reglass and reshape them so they fit nice, also a chance to get bigger boots under it, should have done it from day one, the bonnet scoop also curved the opposite way to the bonnet line, must be a thing with fibreglass places it would seem.
