Anyone going on this on Sunday?

https://www.facebook...73038855592111#

I am interested in going but not sure about the Commodore crew, couple of times I have been out with them there has been some less than intelligent behaviour and some near misses.

If some forum guys are going it might be nice to meet up and form our own mini convoy within the larger one.

Details from the Facebook;

In September 2016, it will mark the 10th anniversary of the passing away of the legend Peter Brock. In memory of the legend, West Coast Commodores will be yet again hosting the huge tribute cruise to also support charity! You will notice that this time around we will be adding new components to this event, all to make it bigger and better for all that attend the event, so click on attending, share the event around, and help us make the 2016 cruise the biggest and best yet!

This event is being held in memory of the great man Peter Brock, who through his dedication to motorsport and passion for the motor vehicle has in many ways touched many Australians hearts in some way or form. This year West Coast Commodores will be raising money for charity as well as paying respects to the great man himself. The cruise will see us going to the site where Peter Brock, while competing in the Targa West Rally, crashed his Daytona Coupe into a tree and died in Gidgegannup on the 8th September 2006.

Details for the event –

We will be meeting in the Midland Centrepoint Carpark, with the arranged overflow carpark at the train station, at 8am for a 10:30am departure on Sunday the 11th September 2016. Please note that this event. yet again, will not be on Fathers Day this year!
For a donation of just $10 to the charity, a cruise map and sticker will be given on the day, and no change will be given, so be generous as the minimum donation is just $10.

In addition to the cruise this year, after we have paid our respect at the crash site, we will head to a bigger and better destination for a show and shine and BBQ, which will also be located back in the metro area which will be at STIRLING SQUARE IN GUILDFORD!!
We will also have some trophies to give away on the day for the show and shine part of the event, a huge raffle like last year’s event, so be sure to get your raffle tickets throughout the cruise and at the end point.

For this event, we are also seeking sponsorship from people and businesses in the way of prizes for the huge raffle that will be held on the day of the event. We are also seeking businesses that are willing to set up traders stalls at the destination of the cruise to add an element of interest once all the cars are parked up. So get in contact with the club by sending an email to westcoastcommodores@gmail.com or PM Phil Holling and we will organise with you asap so we can get your advertising organised prior to the event.

Please come along with West Coast Commodores to pay respects to the great man Peter Brock, as well as supporting charity. For information about the club, go to www.westcoastcommodores.com

Hope to see you all there!
Regards
Phil Holling
West Coast Commodores President

I'm up for a cruise to pay tribute to the great man.

I'm with you Potta, I'd rather have a few Torana's surrounding me then commodores.

Lol yes in previous years the commodore boys & others have cruised in to Chidlow to the oval for a bit if a shown n shine.
There was ALWAYS a couple of handheld radars coming into town & 2-3 cars busting guys leaving doing skids!
A mate took his tonna down for a look years back & the cops spotted his air cleaner hanging out if the bonnet from over 100m away & they hunted him down & busted him :(
Nice to see some cool cars cruising past my gate but yeah there was a few loose nuts out there lol
Cops would have got their quotas & then some!

Solved your problem - and the problem of not having a forum cruise for a while.....

The Combined Torana Car Club is having a Brock cruise this Sunday and are more than happy for forum members to attend. In fact the more torana's in one place the better!

DEPARTING from Alfred's Kitchen in Guildford promptly at 9am we will be cruising up to the crash site. (little early but that way we are there and gone before the commodore club arrive)

We will then be going on to Bailup farm Gidgegannup to visit a private car collection.

The cost is $10 for entrance to the museum and use of the BBQ facilities. This money is 100% donated to PMH.

Bring your own BBQ food  - we will provide sauces and implements.

Daily drivers are welcome - Torana's would be even better.

It would be great to see you folks there!

Might take you up on the offer Mike, but I have since found out we have a prior engagement.

Can probably make the first part of the trip, avoiding the Commodore crew sounds like a good idea, not that they're all bad.

I'm definitely going to try and make it, been hanging out to hang out with all of the Toranas for a change, instead of all those inferior cars I usually end up hanging out with lol.

Thanks for having us Mike and CTCC, it is the first time we've been up there and it is clear that the great man would have enjoyed his last drive.

Thanks again Mike for the invite, a great day in the end.

Looks like you have great bunch of members at the club too.

Here a few pics of the cruise to the site and to the private museum (which was an incredible collection).

A little ford heavy at the museum , but as I get older I'm starting to appreciate all old classics.

First decent scratches on the flares from loose rocks on a stretch of road that had the seal loosening up.

Might have to apply some  3M spray or plastic on the country drives.

Didn't seem to affect the other flared cars, probably 315's don't help either.

What is the orange Gassa? Is it a Gassa? With a big block Hemi

You may have to look at getting the "clear bra" for the bottom section of your flares. I can't see any other way to keep the protected.

The local shire could have put the wheelie bin a few meters further away from the memorial.

Yeah was great day!

Thanks for letting us tag along πŸ˜„

The missus & kids really enjoyed it too!

The museum was awesome! Even if it was heavily fordified!

Can certainly appreciate other Makes especially when they are well presented!

Definitely worth a look if you get the chance!

Have lived up in the hill for 13+ years & never wanted to visit Brockys spot , wanted to remember him as the great driver he was but I'm glad I finally went especially with a great bunch of Torry nuts!!

Think I had better extract a digit & join the club & get the old girl out more!

Thanks again for a good day!! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜

Yeah  I noticed that too, probably makes it easier for them when they 'tidy up' the memorial.

I also just noticed in the pictures that someone has made a mark of respect in the carpark.
