I have the chrome trims that go under the side windows on the coupe, but they have no clips.

Can anyone show me what they look like, or tell me where I can get them?

I've looked on Rare Spares & Torana RPA, but can't see anything...

These should be the clips you need.

Yep as above
Ebay also have them along with stud rivets if you have missing or broken studs.

I have a heap of second hand ones you can have if you want as I just replaced all mine

Thanks Guys,

I can see now how it goes together - flat head stud on the body, and keyhole clip on the chrome...

My car didn't have them originally, so I would need to put the studs in - how are they attached?

The studs are like pop rivets. Drill the appropriate size hole and use a std pop rivet gun to install the stud.

Has anyone used a stud gun as that would b
best.
Those clips from rares are tight. b careful
you dont dent the strip pushing them on.
I cut a mm off the wing on plastic clip as you will see them.
I end up using some of the old ones that were still in good nic than replacing with rares.
Maybe a file could help with the fitment if
you get some tight ones..

why didnt i think of that before?? 😕

The wings on the clips are there to protect the paint.

Thanks Guys.

I looked up the rivet studs, and I can see how they will work.

Some questions though:

  • what's the best way to prevent the hole where the studs go from becoming a rust spot?
  • Should I drill the holes before painting, and then put the rivets in after - or put the rivets in before painting?
  • How many clips/ rivets do I need? They come in packs of 20 - is that enough to do the whole car?
  • Do the rivets need to be at the correct (original) spacing for the clips to work? getting the alignment correct I imagine might be tricky...
  • I'm not 100% clear on how the clip goes into the trim, and what is meant above by 'the wings are there to protect the paint' - does the keyhole go vertically or horizontally?

Thank God for Marty.

Cheers

I used these http://www.ebay.com....dMAAOSwOdpX0IIy

Didn't use the rivets cos the studs were all good. Like someone said above. The wings do stick out a tiny amount but it didn't bother me so left them as they protect the paint like Dave said.

To me the commodore clip like mike says, looks more like torana than the others. From my memory! Gary.

Sorry Gary but the Commodore clip is way longer than the original Torana clips.

The clip Maz posted a pic of is correct.

Hi Gary

All this concourse sticker and paint marks stuff has never really interested me so consequently I am not much use to you.

I would be interested in grabbing these if jklummp doesn't want them. I have had nothing but trouble with the rares ones when using for certain trims but found them fine on others...
