Correct, Lovells didn't make anti-sway bars. As I have told you before, Lovells branded anti-sway bars were made for them by Selby's.

The V8 XU1 (XW7) was to be equipped with the normal 82911 front anti-sway bar and no rear bar.

The front anti-sway bar that is currently fitted to 24C is not the anti-sway bar that 24C would have raced with.

As i told you before, Selby's and KMAC were the only Companys making Sway Bars for Torana's in the Early 1970's as told by the Selby's Family and Lovells ONLY made Coils in that time frame. The blue on my front sway bar is not the same blue as the blue on Lovells Coils. Selby's family said it is one of there front sway bars.

The 82911 front sway bar is not listed FULL STOP in the XW7 stuff, The V8 LJ Homologation Papers were never sent into CAMS but were done, 24C has the same front sway bar as my GTR, i was told that 24C used that Selby's front sway bar at the start of the 1973 season when Sway Bars were Free under Group C Rules.

The normal 82911 anti-sway bar was not listed on the XW7 EPL because it didn't need to be. If a part is not on the EPL means it didn't vary from the part used on the normal model.

The Heavy Duty 308 V8 Clutch and Pressure Plate and Rat Trap is not listed FULL STOP on the XW7 EPL list as well, must of been going to use Fresh Air as a clucth and pressure plate to change gears in the XW7.

Funny then that Brocks #1 XU1 at Bathurst 1973 is not sporting a Selby front sway bar.

Sway bars were Free for 1972 Rules and 1973 Rules as I Checked the CAMS Rules :)

24C is not the Brock Car and the Brock No.1 1973 HDT LJ XU1 had a Front Sway Bar it is still on the Car :)

Better check the rules again. Anti-sway bars and springs were not free in 1972.

Brocks #1 car at Bathurst 1973 would have had a front anti-sway bar but it is not the type you have on your SMP GTR.

Bonds #24 car at Bathurst 1973 also did not have a front anti-sway bar like yours.

Sway Bars were Free

Check the Rules for 1972 and 1973 Group C

They had Sway Bars, No.1 HDT LJ XU1 still has the front sway bar on it

24C front sway was the same in Early 1973. And then the last half of the year they did changes for the last half of the year to Shocks and Coils and sway bars to the 1973 HDT LJ XU1's.

Agree, under Group C rules sway bars, springs and shock absorbers were free however, under Group E rules only shock absorbers were free.

24C front sway was the same in Early 1973.

The same front bar as used in '72 or the same front bar as the front bar fitted to your SMP GTR?

Neither are hundreds of other parts that would also be needed to build a completed 82911 with RPO XW7.

Were they going to use fresh air for those parts also?

Perhaps they could have used real buckets in place of bucket seats.

Can you buy aftermarket clamps for aftermarket bars?

I have a big fat whiteline bar that I would like to put on the GTR but have no clamps, and it doesn't taper at the end like the stock one.

Also does it attach somewhere in the middle?

Maybe Al could put up some pics of his so I can see?

Hi Craig, i can't remember if whiteline will do the brackets separately for their bars, if you have a contact at repco, they deal with whiteline so they should be able to ask, may take a couple of hours to get a response, they make good quality parts though. Gary

Thanks Gary, when I forget that I'm never going to Repco again I will ask.

Although judging by the service I got last weekend those kinds of questions could get me killed lol.

Thanks Bazza, however I feel I should inform you the torque specs quoted in the above article were again revised during LJ production plus measurements were also published for the positioning of the stabilizer bar and clamps.

Holden's have informed me they will sue me if I publish this information without their written consent. :)

Hi Dave, are you able to PM me the LJ Front Stabilizer and Clamp positioning measurements.

Cheers

Jaso :)
