The top one is the South Korean Chevrolet 1700.

1972-78-Chevrolet-1700-Seehan-Motors.jpgGeneral Motors Korea (GMK) was a 50/50 joint venture of the Shinjin Corp. and General Motors, which was formed in 1972 after Toyota withdrew from its partnership with Shinjin. It’s a complicated story, but this is the automaker that eventually became Daewoo Motor Co.

In the meantime, from 1972 to 1978 GM Korea built a localized GMK version of the Opel Rekord, as well as the Chevrolet 1700 shown here, which is essentially a badge-engineered Holden Torana. When GMK became Saehan Motors in 1978, the Chevy 1700 became the Saehan Camina.

Weren't these actually assembled in Korea or Malaysia? GMH did a bit of that around that time, I think they had assembly in the Caribbean too, maybe Trinidad? Not sure if they did Torana or just Holden.

From what I can gather Holden's exported CKD's to South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines, Pakistan, Trinidad & Tobago, Sth Africa to name a few.

They weren't always CKD though I think, a lot used local content as well like South African build Chev 6's, TH350, Borg Warner rear ends etc. There were some SUP as well like the HQ LWB sedan (Statesman) sold as an Isuzu. Not sure if the Toranas in Korea used locally built bits into GMH supplied body packs.

most of the build dates on them are after holdens production of the LJ . Could be where holdens press tooling went ?

The body kits were probably all pressed prior to the end of LJ here. This is how Chev SS were done, engines and all made prior to HG finishing here.

I just had my Thai girl translate the second brochure with the LJs in it.

The big writing at the top right and the number plate say "Torana" (with a roll of the 'r')

The tiny writing above the big 'Torana' says either "Menboleo or Benboleo Motors Showroom" (can't make out the first letter)

The smaller solid writing at the top right says "Beautiful design" (as in good shape) in the first row,

then "Big Power Engine" in the second line.

The writing at the lower left says "New Shape 4 Door Sports Car"
