Don't know if this will work. Listening to the mindless rattling thrum of 4 cyl diesels down the front straight.

The current utes are bad enough..... as mentioned above, I'm sure a bunch of 4cyl turbo diesels will really wow the crowd..

How is this relevant to road going vehicles? Rangers and BT-50 are 5cyl, the new Amarok out this month is a V6 diesel as will the Mercedes ute out soon. I imagine Holden will follow suit not long after to stay in the market as it takes a massive sales hit once they no longer have a V8 Holden to sell. The new Amarok engine has more power and torque than a VN-VS V8 engine, will do 0-100 in 7's and 16sec quarters, all form a 2.2 tonne vehicle. All whilst the thing is running of course, doesn't count all the time spent at VW trying to fix them.....So why are the saying 4cyls only? Stupid, and boring as everyone else has said. Imagine the pits, not running right, plug in the engine analyser. Too bad driver, it is bad fuel, your problem now!

should just run the stadium trucks.

supply rolling chassis

The amaroks are the worst of the current lot available.
Motors are hand grenades.

Anyone who has a clue and has ever done any significant engine work on an amarok will know how fragile they are.

I was speechless after digging into one that came in on a tow truck.

Yep hence my comments along those lines. The V6 due out next month is straight from a Cayenne or Q7 but the 2,0L hand grenade remains on lower spec examples. The reason it is being fitted is the 2.0L can't comply with Euro 6 emissions.

3.5 tonne.

3,0tonne in Australia as we are a hot climate, 3.5tonne in some Euro areas. Rings alarm bells straight away for me.

My bad.

Only issues with more cylidners is in QLD it means more rego.

But oh well. Only an issue with things like the BT-50/Ranger where your paying six cylidner rego for a pissy 3.2 litre that could easilly be a 4 cylinder.

Be good if it's full contact. On standard wheels and suspension there will be heaps of carnage, cheers Aaron.

Silly rego laws isn't it? It should be cubic capacity to be fairer, you shouldn't get away with paying cheaper rego on a 4.0L 4cyl than a 2.0L V6.

My VZ Tonner is registered as a commercial vehicle for GST purposes, therefore my rego costs almost 10% more than if it were registered as a private vehicle.

When I questioned QLD Transport about this the lame excuse for a reply I was given was that commercial vehicles do more damage to our road network? :wtf:

......gotta wonder if they did any fan/spectator/whatever research before announcing this was the path they were going down.

Lets hope they didnt think that the Stadium trucks were the taste test for truck based ute racing................whatever the proposed series does, it cant help looking like a Lawn Bowls version of the Stadiums?..or am I missing something?.
