how to trim the carpet around the gear shift lever and seats mounts any pics, ect

Big Sharp scissors is the only way i gather.

Then if you like, take it to a trimmer and they
could tidy it up by running vinyl around
gearbox opening if your fussy.an example

I didn't trim around my seat bolts, just bolted seats straight on to the carpet.

 

Used a soldering iron to make the holes in the carpet for the bolt holes.

Seats are meant to be bolted directly to the floor pan.

As much as I dislike originality, this is very good advice from Brad.

You compromise seating position and headroom if you bolt your seats on top of carpet, insulation and dynamat.
Things are tight enough inside a Torana for us 6 footers as it is.
