If you are in Sydney and interested in nostalgia motorsport, head out to SMP tomorrow or Sunday.

Some great old race cars performing on track over the weekend.

Here is a brief selection from practice today. There will be others joining tomorrow.

Awesome Steve !

Thanks for the pic's, I needed that fix as I couldn't organise the Mrs and kids to get down there today...

It's raining at the moment so just wondering is racing still on for the old girls or do they wait for it to clear?

Thanks mate!

Are those cars replicas or the real deal?
Some amazing cars amongst them

Looks like a Group C styled Gemini coup to me.

It's an Isuzu Gemini 1800. That version wasn't sold as a Holden in Australia, but they were allowed to race them in Group C. Also, that isn't a Francevic Volvo. That is the Scuderia Veloce Motors Volvo that ran at Bathurst in 1979 in pretty much standard build, with Uniroyal road tyres. It was driven by Spencer Martin and David McKay. And there was some funny in car commentary on the day about it being a mobile road block....

Thanks LS2 Hatch and oz772.

The tail lights look at tad 80s Bentley...

That Volvo went alright didn't it - finished Bathurst 1979 race 20th out of 29 finishers and one spot up on that Gemini.

Cheers, TB
