G'day All
Well Saturday night was a weird event and I am sure I saw a Martian
Now he had flames coming out of his head when I thought Martians were to suppose to have flames coming out the other end
Yeah I knew I was right as later on his antenna came out of his head
Even Geno thought he was seeing things as he ponders his thoughts AND strangely enough, the weird thought bubbles were coming out of his head
Oh well, he decided this was too much for him so he sucked on another apple cider to drown his woes
What a privilege to have the BILL PATTERSON RACING, "Brock-Brock" 1977 A9X just outside the window
The next day was the Show 'n Shine and where the noise was coming from seemed to draw the most attention
On the other side of that crowd was a Torana dragster with more horse power than the 4th Light Horse Brigade charge at Beersheba during the 2nd World War in 1917
Are we not the luckiest lot to have the lovely Bev Brock at our Torana events
Bev dropped around to see the fantastic collection of Toranas and I was lucky enough to get another photo taken with her
For those that didn't get a chance to see my display, here it is
The wide angle shot
From the rear showing on the left where Gil Tucker had signed my Hatch Hutch and on the right where Judy McBurney had signed it. They were the 2 actors who starred in the 8 minute Holden commercial for the LX Hatchback in 1976
Also at the rear and attached to the fuel cap was a "Tigers Tail"
In the 1960's to the 70's, Esso petrol advertised "Put a Tiger in your tank" and along with the cartoon large tiger at the petrol stations, they sold "the tigers tail". This is the genuine item
From the front on the bonnet, a blanket map of Mount Panorama with my collection of 1:43 scale Brock Bathurst Toranas and his racing career starter, the Holden Powered Austin A30 on the turnstile
The Austin A30 might have been an ungainly looking race car but Brocky won many races with it
The free-loaders sitting on my SS roof from left is the Holden LIon Rory signed by Peter, Team Brock Bear signed by Jim Richards and Team Brock Bear signed by Peter
Facing those free-loaders on the other side were from left Team Brock Bear signed by Bev (cuddling Peter of course), Team Brock Bear signed by Phil, Taz Devil which represents our 2 Torana Tours of Tasmania (2009 & 2013) and I Love Peter Brock Bear
Sorry I didn't get much of a chance to get around and take a lot of pics of the fantastic array of Toranas at the Show 'n Shine but it is a bit hard for me to get away from my display with so much just sitting there waiting for a five finger discounter to walk by
I didn't go straight home after the display but went down to Nelligen which is on the Clyde River just before Batemans Bay where my wife's family were enjoying a short family holiday
Now me, being the champion fisherman I am, , and only just after getting there, I cast a line in and caught this 47cm Flathead
Well actually I did catch that "unlucky" Flathead after only casting out with a spinner for about 15 minutes, but it must have been the most "unluckiest" fish in the river as it was the "only" one I caught for the 4 days I was down there.
Did get a pic of the Super Nova moon and although there were a lot of cloud about, the clouds for me made a better pic
Judge for yourself which is the better photo with the clouds and camping cabins as a foreground or, just the Super Nova moon
That's my bit on the inaugural Canberra Torana Nationals which was an outstanding success, hope you like "Pop's Nutty Torana Nationals in the Capital"
Till "Toranafest 2017", that's if I'm lucky enough to get there
RegardSS .... Barry
