Hi need help .wanting to put a set of wide wheels / mags on torana lc but have run into a problem with offsets. the front end has been changed to disc brakes by previous owner and I have tried the new performance sprints 13x7 and the rears with 205x 60 fit inside the rolled guards. the problem is with the front the 13x7 stick out side the guards. have measured from hub to outer lip of guard and find that the measurement of 95 mm I cant get a mag with enough back space to fit inside the guards. has any body had this problem or what option do I have other than may be get some steel wheels made up. thank for any help.

Hi mate..are you running the original discs
or new.some discs slip over the hub and
increase track width slightly.also how much
camber are you running...

I have 13x7 rebels on 215 tire and stuck out
quite abit.once i had wheel align and camber
adjustment it aint so bad now

Pics will help.Attached File  20161130_154627.jpg   965.97K   6 downloads

Standard disk brake wheel offset was around +34mm
I have a 195 on a 6.5" rim with +38mm offset, its as low as it goes and doesn't rub with slightly rolled guards. but it's very close.
(195/40r17) total diameter of 588mm

That works out to be a 5.25" back space.

My maths gives me 90mm from hub face to outer guard, but thats rough.
Ride hieght and my rough measurements could easy make it 95mm.
Sounds like you have aclose to the std front track to me.
How was the upgrade done?

Front end has to come down an inch or two yet,as it had 14's on it. Guards were already lipped when I got the car, which won't hurt.

Thanks for you help. I have sent off all measurement to my wheel man who has forwarded them to the wheel boys to see what they can do for me. I am thinking superlites in 13x7 rears and what ever they can cum up with for the front in 6inch. hope something happens some I need to get out for a drive soon.

If you are keen on superlites there are options other than Performance/WheelBoyz.

I wanted superlites for my daily driver. I ended up going with Rota Wheels because they could supply the offset I wanted.

These are Rota RB. Same as the 'superlite' style.

My LC has 13X7 (Hotwires) with 100mm backspace - no clearance issues.

Hi Steve hot wires are what I wanted but try a get some I reasonable condition these days is getting very hard. As for the rota wheels they are all only 4 stud that I could find so that is out. As for 8inch on the front I could not fit the sprint 7 inch under the front guards. My wheel man thinks gtr guards are wider than my sl lc not sure what planet he comes from but I am starting to wonder if he knows what he is talking about. One other question when going from drum to disc I gather you use disc set up from same model torana would this set the disc out further than if it came with disc brakes in the first place. thanks for any help I have almost had enough of it.  Gary

Gary

You are right about Rota RB - nothing to suit the Torana. Sorry for the miss-information. Such a shame cause they are a great looking wheel and very light.

My LC was originally drum brakes all round. Now fitted with LC/LJ disc hubs and no problems. And with standard wheels and tyres is the same track as disc braked models from factory. I understand standard wheel offset is +19mm. My Hotwires (13 X 7) have 100mm backspace and easily clear the front guards. I can actually run an 8mm spacer further increasing the front track without fouling the guards or protruding beyond the guards.

Don't give up on it. The effort to measure and then source the wheels you want in the correct size & offset will be worth it in the long run.

Steve

Hi all thanks for all you ideas . have finally taken the car down to my wheel man and found that my problem is the discs on the car are from an lh/lx torana and they push the track out a little further. they have fitted the 13x7 sprints on have put narrower tyres on the front and all I need to do is find some longer bolts and shims and they will bring the camber in one degree and it will be done. as I said thanks all for your help.
