Hey this is one that I have an answer for.

Get a bog standard telescopic aerial - then collapse it - reach in under the dash and place one end over the glovebox - then extend the aerial out towards the drivers side. Bit of wiggling - couple of ties and she is all good and completely hidden.

And no it does not rattle. And if it does a few more cable ties will fix it.

Not great for AM stations but never had a problem with FM.

I ran a single strand of telephone wire around the windscreen tucked under the rubber.

Bit fiddly to do but cant be seen and works a treat.

The people that expect toranas to be rebuilt to factory specs.
Some people just don't like things being customized.

Do whatever u want to do and make it yours and how u want it to be. Dont let anyone tell u that is how is shouldn't be just because it wasn't like that from factory

G'day

Aerial in the middle on the turret is an 80's thing

Mines got it and I can't be bothered moving it

A fella I am now friends with has a very genuine A9X and has exactly the same aerial, speakers and radio/cassette player that I use to have in mine

That unit has gone but now have an original AM radio in where it suppose to be in a Hatch and have bolted an AM/FM/CD player under the dash passenger side

Build it wherever you want it but FYI, the factory position is in the guard for an LX. No Torana had a roof mounted aerial, as Pop's said it was an 80's thing usually combined with a single or split window pop up sunroof, depending on the owners taste.

I have recently seen a very original 1 owner LH 5000 with the aerial mounted on the passenger back guard which apparently among other things was part of a 'Country Pack'

^ Factory electric aerial location.

It'd have this switch on the dash.

Not quite. That switch belongs to an HQ.

The correct switch for LH will have a small characterised picture of an aerial on it.

Ah, I thought the HQ had the writing. UP DOWN

It's the only image I could find online of a switch with aerial picture on it, it looks like a Torana switch, I thought it may be the one.

My aerial was on the top of the rear left guard. No hole in Front Left hand guard either.
