Can you convert a white needle to a yellow by changing the decal and painting the needles?
Any thoughts or anyone done this?

Yes you can. A mate did exactly that with good results.

Does anyone know the correct colour code for the needles?

You will find a luminesent nail polish that will do the job.

Not the ones with the brake light in the speedo section.
The OP asks if it can be done and the answer is yes. If the OP has a later model LX SL/R that came with brake light in speedo then it won't be correct for his car but if his car isn't an SL/R then it won't matter either way.

I'd be cautious about the accuracy of the tacho and speedo when adding extra paint (weight) to the needles.
This is correct it will alter the readings

What if you sanded it down a little?
Either way, you could take it to a gauge calibrator, if you have different size wheels or diff it's probably not reading correctly anyway.

Only the Tacho will be affected by painting the pointer.
The other gauges will be fine.
Even the slightest change in weight, up or down, will affect the operation of the Tacho.
After painting, the Tacho movement will first need to be re-balanced and then re-calibrated.
I've done countless of them.

Good to know it can be corrected afterwards.
