I'm wanting to deck out my boot with a subwoofer enclosure with neons and a Perspex front I've got a 12" pioneer sub what dimensions do I need for an enclosure and how do I mount it to look good ? I was thinking of running 2 ports rhrough to the parcel shelf both just off centre with 2 6x9's angled slightly forward would the sound quality be good? What's a good size speaker for the front doors I will be running a single amp for the sub and another amp for the other speakers. Unsure of head unit to run this setup I have been searching the net and kicker seem to be on point with quality for the other speakers. Any recomedations would be much appreciated. Thanks and have a great Christmas!

Welcome !

Depends on on what sort of beat you want.

If you want a clean tight bass then go for a sealed bin , if you want more thump then use a ported bin.

I am guessing red and blue neons , in which case you might need a roof bar to mount them on the roof with a big magnet between them for ease of optical disression.

sorry , had a couple today , hopefully some one understands the cryptic shit ? :)

Back when I was playing with sound systems I found my LJ sounded a LOT better with no rear speakers, just a sub in a sealed enclosure, the holes where the 6x9's used to be (with the grilles still over them for asthetics) and some 6' splits with passive crossovers in the front.

Was running an Alpine Type s 10" with a Class D monoblock, and a class AB 2ch for the type s front splits.... Keep in mind this was 10 years ago.

Cheers.

definitely know need for twin ports with a single 12" sub.

what is the model of your sub? there is a few 12" pioneer subs pending model will depend box size.

what amp will u have running it?

also what music do you listen to.? this will help what style of box to go with..

as for design and layout there are many option all depends where u want is situated.

if you go the perspex front on a box go with 16mm plus perspex, the thin stuff they sell on the premade boxes are crap and flexes to much and can start cracking and the screw holes etc.

the above is pretty good info for box sizes as most 12" subs require around 1 cubic foot of space for sealed units..

mdf is the choice for making boxes in 16mm or 18mm also paint some fiberglass resin inside the box once built

this will help it from splitting joints over time

couple ideas fro u.

make up a panel the fits across the back in the boot, cut the hole to the size of the box u make, cove the panel with your choice of fabric,  have the box mounted at the appropriate distance to be able to just mount the panel  in front of the box as pictured below,

or the dodgy way just make a cheap box screw on perspex etc and mount it in the boot as pictured also..

It's a pioneer ts-w302r. Lol to the blue and red neons was more thinking green don't have an amp for it as I left it in my vt with the box just kept the sub for a rainy day guess it's started raining

Music style is mainly hip hop and dance but having daughters could be anything

ok for hip hop etc i would go ported at 1.5 cubic foot.

specs are 1.25 to 2.05 cubic for the sub.

and 150rms.

when u buy a amp u will only want the 150rms max. no need for any bigger as its just going to blow you sub to bits.
