They say in the article that at 7.77 kilometers long it is the second longest race track in Australia. That must be a mistake.

Yep a few errors there.

The 7.77 kilometre road racing track is set to become the second longest circuit in Australia, beating the 6.2km Mount Panorma circuit. It is however dwarfed by the famous Nurburgring, at 20.8 or 24.4km, depending on which version is being used.

And they think that a Commodore is a real dare.??

That track at nearly 8km km long would be a real ball tearer, although sounds like all of it might not normally be used. Good on them for having a go though.

Just for the dummies....is there enough population in that area to justify the ""V8"" Supercars heading out there??

I can't wait for this place to open, all we have had is Mallala for so long - it's going going to host multiple categories cars/bikes/go karts/drag strip - there's way more to it than just the Supercars...

They have an agreement with v8supercars apparently - who knows how long it is going to take for them to build it though - I think they would get a good crowd - it's a straight drive up the freeway, by the time they finish it all it will be like a small city - the guys building it own the "on the run" BP servo chain over here so plenty of cash

C#nt of a tow up that hill tho.

I see lots of dead tow cars.... lol.

Plus a morning start would mean most would either have to camp the night before or leave 6am etc to get there.

Tailem is just a 100km "straight drive up the VERY steep freeway"

Id have rather the idiot government signed off on the Gilman track proposal.

V8 supercars had a name change at the start of the season...............They're just called supercars...................After the local Ford and Holden V8 demise.

Opening up the market for international manufacturers.

Apologies if this is a stupid question but if Mt Panorama is the second longest track in Aus, what's the longest?

I'm quite excited about this one as well. I live in the hills so it won't take me long at all to get there as opposed to the long drive out to A.I.R. Yep, these guys are cashed up and it will be state of the art no doubt.
I have a mate working on the heavy machinery there at the moment and it's full steam ahead.
The first few k's up the hill at the start of the freeway can be unforgiving but after that it's an easy drive straight there. If your tow vehicle is properly maintained there is no issue getting up the hill. I've dragged cars up it plenty of times. There is not a whole heap of population around the area but given the state of Mallala and A.I.R I have no doubt people will travel.

I guess once you put it through "google translate" a couple of times it ends up being a bit like Chinese whispers.

A lot of people in the South West of WA travel 200 kays to watch the Supercars in Wanneroo. Club level motorsport probably won't get a big attendance though.

You'd be suprised how many SA guys travel to melb to race and don't even bother with mallala.

Do you think that Mallala will survive?
Without knowing the elevations of the ground it is going on, this new track does look like a good design with the two halves being able to be used at the same time.
