i seem to have the right tbar for it.  was given it loose with the car.

but when i ebay search for a vb commodore linkage/selector shaft .. zero come up. even in completed listings. ??
asking for little info/help on why i cant find one? lots turn up for hq's lx's etc:)

seems my my motor and trimatic are from a vb
engine prefix "vr", with early number.

and "K O" transmission prefix

info found..

Yes, that is a HQ-HZ TH400 T-bar which will shift the LH shift trimatic. Just look for a RH shift trimatic rod and the shifter selector that bolts top the box and swap it over to the left (may have to bend it slightly), or if not get one from a UC 6cyl Torana with T-bar as these were mostly left shift and the T-bar itself is all but the same except for the stuff at the top to hold the shift indicator. VB Commodore T-bar looks very different.

Give Greg at Classicozwreck a call, he'd probably have what you need. Also grab the wiring harness too, it'll plug straight into your harness.

Search "Holden t-bar" on Ebay. There is a used loom on there for $77, plus a whole repro HQ-HZ TH400 shift rod and associated bits for $95. This gets you the trunnion and the rod, all you need is to find the shift plate if your box is missing it. The TH400 will do the job too but might need some bending - they are pretty easy things to make work, the rod is a simple attachement at the shifter, and the trunnion is adjustable at the box with the bolt holding the tension on the rod. Very simple setup. If you look at item 262831557673 you can see how the rod works (the shifter in the auction is a trimatic one for a RH shift despite what the ad says). The bolt head you can see in the trunion is what holds the shift rod in place, as you undo it, it allows the rod to slide in and out of the trunnion, set it up so you have all gears and do the nut up, simple as that.

Are you sure thats a hz th400 shifter?
They're cable from memory.
Not linkage.

No they are rod type from HQ-HZ. Only the Statesman ones are cable type (for less vibration). It can only be a TH400 one anyway as it is LH shift and the only LH shift boxes used in HQ-HZ are TH boxes. They are normally easy to pick as they have M40 or M41 written on them with Crayon, from memory pink or yellow.

cheers again, yel:)

i think this is loom you mean.

http://www.ebay.com....IoAAOSwUdlWgJJ1

been wondering, do i need one with a "globe/lamp" to see gear selection at night?

have not been around a torana for twenty years and it's showing in my lack of knowledge, and car was basically an empty shell when bought it.

and think this is one you mean for $95

http://www.ebay.com....~QAAOSw6DtYV3K-

this linkage cheaper, still correct??

http://www.ebay.com....EIAAOSwKtlWsR5r

and i don't think??? i have the selector plate, will jump under car and have a look tomorrow

and haven't seen any of these shift rods in person but suspected could loosen and slide trunion.

can't find item 262831557673 yet

That harness is missing the globe.

Yes cheaper one looks the same. This is how GMH did it and built hundreds of 1000's of them.

Just copy and past the number into Ebay search, and the t-bar comes up.

and here is the used one, shown on a rhs shifter

it doesn't "drop down" before going sideways, like one above.

----------

as they arent shaped anything like the UC, are you sure will fit? you mentioned might have to do some bending, which is no problem.

and as for loom

do i need a specific one just like the uc

when i search "trimatic loom" only these come up (all have the globe)?

The difference is the left side shift is different to right side shift. That UC one is left side shift. There will be slight differences due to the box shape on each side and also for the TH boxes. I used a UC shifter and rod in my HZ Overlander when I converted it from column to T-bar as I didn't want to use a console. It connected straight up to the TH400. I just used a vinyl boot around the whole thing that I had fabricated. The UC harness plugs straight into the HZ harness.
For the harness you want a HQ to WB one or LH to UC.
