Hi guys.ventured out to look at an m20
box that has been fully recoed internally
and has 2.54 1.83 1.25 1.00 ratios that i
was told it had.i never took the inspection
plate off to have a look at cluster but was
informed it has xu1 cluster..

Im not sure what to offer but i did mention
500 bills and maybe 750 if it was the real
deal.he said im in the ballpark so i gather
he wants more..
First thing i looked for was the yellow xu
stamp on box.its still in its red oxide finish
so i reckon its just a std m20 with xu1
cluster.it does have those 2 grooves on input
shaft but i measured it against a std m20 and
was same..anyhow whats a reasonable price
to pay for a fully recoed box.

Cheers maz

Maz, if that box has XU1 ratios then it has a reproduction XU1 input shaft (oil seal type) and has matching oil seal type cover Pt No.9930912 so highly likely it also has a reproduction XU1 cluster gear.

IMO not worth more than $450 if professionally reconditioned and never used since.

Go and buy the kit to recon that box yes i know its only an M 20
but include labour in the cost see what the damage is
i would think at least $750

Yes but you will be very lucky if you can recoup what it cost you when you sell it.

Hi Maz, I'd want receipts and proof of what's been done to spend more than $500.  It has got the reverse switch which is good, as long as it works?

Cheers

Hi guys..yeah ive decided not to get it.

The only proof of it being rebuilt was just
a yellow piece of paper saying where it was
from which was a wrecking yard in melb..

Probably same place Als rat trap came from 😜

I didnt really go much on it once i saw that

Mind you it had 1450 wrote on front of box
he never paid that for it and i never asked
how much he did but i reckon hes probably
paid a g for it..

the xu1 ratios are too long for a streeter in third. unless you shorten up the final drive, so stick with a M20 ratios and an even shorter ratio and it will be a quick street car.

also if you have an agressive cam then a long ratio diff and gear box is not your friend

No, sorry, I'm with Al. His topic is serious in the big scheme of things. I'm over members relaying there doubt into other threads to try and make a mockery.

It's up to those members to step up, provide true evidence to the contrary of Al's research. Or STFU

Yep
I believe the car is what he says it is. I think it's great he has done all the work to find its heritage especially when a tag was missing. Hats off to him I say.

What I do find amusing is the amount of times prof of something was because of a pink frOcking pen which I find ridiculous as we all know this dosent prove shit

But this is only an opinion. We all have one and we all can't agree on them. Sooooooo I guess what I'm trying to say is if you don't said opinion go eat a dick

Again. Just my opinion :P

Post it in the appropriate thread then, don't try and spread it all over the forum as a joke.
