Hi Curtis

I would suggest it would be around the 11th or 12th of November 1970. There was a batch of about 20 built during this period and the quoted Chassis Number would fall in that batch.

Do you have any tags?

Cheers

Hi Chad

You need the 13 characters from the VIN tag to establish the full identity of the vehicle, but from the info that you have provided, the paint is Platinum Metallic and the interior has gold trim.

Hello everyone,

Looking at an 8/72 GTR however I'm a bit sus on the numbers matching. There is NO skinny VIN tag and the two remaining tags are;

ADR Tag:

08/72   ALJ10765B  which matches number stamped on guard.

Other Tag:

Model LJ82911M

Body No:  10769B

Trim: 1832 41Y

Paint: 567 13127

I'm thinking the tags don't match because the last ADR numbers don't match the body number. 65B & 69B.

Would I be correct that the other tag doesn't match the ADR tag?

Thanks heaps in advance,

Chuck

Hi Chuck

The Chassis Number and Body Number do not have to match. If they do match exactly, it is sheer coincidence. The reason that they are often very close is that the numbers are allocated at different times in the manufacturing process. I have seen the numbers as close as 1 different or as much as 150 apart. Sometimes the Chassis Number is higher than the Body Number and sometimes it's vice versa.

Of the 2 numbers that you have, it is essential that the Chassis Number (ALJ10765B) that appears on the ADR tag is identical to the stamped number on the inner passenger side guard.

That car in question is Lime Green Metallic with Antique Saddle trim with black and white hounds-tooth inserts.

Cheers

Hi

No issues with the numbers. XU-1 completed Adelaide 19/9/72.

Can the mods put this post in the correct area please?

I have bought what I hope to be a LC GTR. There are only to plates on the car sitting on the radiator support panel next to each other. There is no plate on the firewall. One of the tags is the trim and paint tag the other is a longer skinny one. There is also a chassis number stamped into the passenger inside guard in the engine bay. It is a rolling shell with lots missing. Is anybody able to assist in ID what I have from the 2 tags on the car?

Living in hope

Mark

Thanks so much, here they are.

The trim plate:

Model - LC82911

Body No. 1807-48V

Paint 567-12189

And the long skinny one:

82911CL167595

Is the chassis number relevant?

LC07339A

Thanks again.

Mark

Hi Mark

You indicate there is no Compliance plate on the car. Are the two rivet holes there in the upper dash panel (near the wiper motor) or just no sign of a compliance plate ever being fitted?

BTW, 1807-48V is the trim combination not the body number.

Are the front upper control arm bump stops mounted on the sides of the chassis rails above the control arms?

Cheers

Dave.
