Can i ask for some help also, I have looked at the service info files and can't find the car i am looking for.

 

What I am after is details on:

VIN: 8D11L?H278225J (the ? is either C or G)

Chassis: LJ35704B (possible a letter preceding this)

Compliance Plate: BLJ 35704B

 

Manufacturing Plate:

Model: LJ82911

Body: 278225B

Trim: 1816 58X

Paint: 568 12692

 

Engine: QL158940

 

Any help on lining these numbers up would be appreciated.

That VIN appears on the disc as a GTR completed in Brisbane on 23/5/73 and sold by Savell Bros, Forest Rd. Hurstville NSW the following month. The original engine number was JL340483. Tangerine with Doeskin and Chestnut trim. The Chassis and Body numbers accord with the production date.

Those 2 numbers line up well. The Body Number on the Body Identificatio plate does not have to match any other number. The stamped Chassis Number has to match the Chassis Number that appears on the ADR compliance plate.

 

Do you have the VIN and ADR tags? That will tell the whole story.

 

From what you have provided, it appears to be a Burnished Bronze Metallic GTR with Sandalwood trim built early Feb 1971 in Adelaide.

Number scratched on back - 9545 (with X in top right corner)

Having the digits '9545' scribed onto the reverse of the ADR tag - indicates that the VIN of the vehicle in question would be 82911CL159545. This being the case, the vehicle would be an XU-1 completed in Adelaide on 14/9/70. The selling dealer code is 0004 which is taken to mean that the car was used internally by GMH Adelaide or exported. In either case it is extremely unusual for an engine number to be recorded, however the engine number recorded is 310022195. This is not the engine number that you have provided (3100X22060) but it is within the range of numbers being fitted to vehicles during that period. It could be a case of an input error at that time. The Chassis Number and Body Number accord with the completion date, the colour is Rally Red and the trim is black vinyl. If you PM me with your email address, I can send you a screen shot of the VIN disk entry.

Chasing some info on my lc gtr. Tags aren't in the best shape but they're all there. Only have limited info ATM because I didn't get photos of all the tags when I remembered to actually take photos

82911CH148876 is a Brisbane build GTR completed on 30/11/1969 and sold 1/70 by dealer 608 Ern Jones P/L Bankstown NSW.

Paint: 568 11401 is Kashmir White.

Trim Combination: 1192 - 48X is Kashmir White exterior with Sandalwood vinyl interior.

Body #02888B is consistent with the build time frame.

No engine number is recorded.
