I believe the three possibilities for the PSN for your GTR are:

L142468 completed on the 27/12/1969

L142474 completed on the 23/12/1969

L142476 completed on the 22/01/1970 - probably not this one.

Thanks for that - it is great to get it down to a few possibilities - looks like that there are a lot of other people missing plates on their cars

Hey guys.
Just looking at an LJ after the LC I was looking at dropped off.
This one claims to be an XU1. Would love to know what its history is.

Body ID tag has:
MODEL 82911
BODY No 1207-A
TRIM 1848-40 X
PAINT 567-13160
TOP (blank)

Compliance plate has:
ALJ15572A

Body number matches the compliance tag number.

Cheers

Alex

Hi there,

I have owned my LC GTR for over 30 years and it is time for a full restoration.
I will create another thread with build photos as we progress..

The car was in storage over this time and the long skinny plate went missing...

I have the large plate and all original registration papers (from 31 years ago) etc.

Is there anyone who might trace the relevant details of the car?

The car is an LC GTR, Sebring Orange with black vinyl trim.

The body no. is 398-A.

Any advice is appreciated.

Regards,
Josh

I need help with identification of my LC 2 door sedan
I’ve only got original chassis body number and plate that corresponds which is ALC 40021B I can’t see any PSN number on back of plate,
My nose cone has been changed at some point to a LJ one with that body plate on it that says LJ 82911 and the colour is Tangerine I believe, and 50x trim.
Any help is appreciated or if someone is missing there LJ GTR or XU1 body plate I may have it

Brisbane cars didn't have the last 4 or 5 digits of the PSN scratched on the back of the Compliance Plate like Adelaide cars.

Instead, Brisbane cars had the body number from the Body ID Plate written with texta.

Unfortunately the Chassis number ALC40021B reveals nothing more than it would be from September 1971 production.

Anyone got a LC with chassis number close to mine ? It’s ALC 40021B
Having trouble identifying it, looks like the texta PSN on back starts with 8 have to try make out rest somehow.

That is most likely a 6 not an 8 unless it is the last number not the 1st. The texta number on the back of the compliance plate is the Body number. If the 1st number is a 6 then it will be the last 4 digits of the body number.

There’s a chance my psn is 4678 very hard to make out. Would it be possible a Brisbane built car got sold in Adelaide?
Anyone have an LC GTR XU1 with known psn no. 4678?

The number written in texta on the back of a Brisbane compliance plate is not part of the PSN. It is part of the body number.

ALC40021B is not the body number, it is the chassis number. The body number is stamped on the Body ID Plate of which you do not have the original Plate on your car. You said your car has the tag from an LJ 82911.

Yes that’s correct it has a LJ82911 body plate on front passenger side near headlight and my chassis number and ADR plate match.
What does the number on back of ADR plate identify ? The paint colour or PCN

Do you believe your LC may be a GTR or even an XU1? Does it have a lot of genuine XU1 components, perhaps even a CK prefix 186 engine?

Engine is not correct it’s a HQ prefix with high compression head etc
The car has Bathurst tank that was definitely not from recently has a very old setup of battery in boot to which is interesting, also has big front brakes and the front end setup is different to standard but all old springs etc. gearbox winds 3rd gear out to 140-150kph but haven’t removed to see if M21 spline with 2 grooves on input shaft.
Not sure about the diff ratio or if lsd haven’t investigated that. I can see the original paint of car was red like Salamanca red to me. Has black roof lining and other signs it has always been black. Not sure what else helps identify it

Hey guys.

Not sure if this is the correct way to find out some info on a LJ 2 Door.

Body ID tag has:
MODEL - LJ82911
BODY No - 295494B
TRIM - 1870 50X
PAINT 567- 15337
TOP (blank)

Compliance plate has:
BLJ5588B

11/73

Body number matches the compliance tag number.

I`m trying to determine if a GTR.

Any info would be appreciated

Thanks

So yes it can be identified if you're willing to show your hand
