Hey guys.

Not sure if this is the correct way to find out some info on a LJ 2 Door.

Body ID tag has:
MODEL - LJ82911
BODY No - 295494B
TRIM - 1870 50X
PAINT 567- 15337
TOP (blank)

Compliance plate has:
BLJ5588B

11/73

Body number matches the compliance tag number.

I`m trying to determine if a GTR.

Any info would be appreciated

Thanks

The VIN tag and the Body ID Plate belong with each other and came from a Brisbane built GTR completed on the 12/10/1973.

You are missing one digit from the Chassis number however I don't believe it will make any difference to the result that the GTR VIN tag and Body ID Plate do not belong with that 11/73

chassis number.

Correction.
You didn't mention a VIN tag. The Body ID Tag is from a 10/73 GTR.
You said the number on the Compliance plate matches the chassis number stamped into the body sheet metal so the 11/73 compliance plate belongs with the body shell.

Hi Mate,

Thanks for the quick response and to your question I did miss a number on the chassis.

It`s BLJ55888B (missing an 8)

Correct the VIN tag is missing.

So is this a Brisbane built GTR?

Thanks

The Body tag is from a GTR but it does not belong with that chassis number or that body shell. There is a high probability BLJ55888B is a Torana S that has been done up to look like a GTR and fitted with a GTR body identification tag.

Isn`t that good news!

Could the last letter in the chassis number be "P" my bad eyesight?

How do I identify it`s real identity if possible

Thanks

If you can carefully remove the Compliance plate from the upper dash panel there should be four or 5 numbers written on the back in texta. Be careful not to touch and accidentally wipe it off.

This number is the last portion of the body number (not to be confused with the chassis number stamped into the left hand wheelhouse panel).

The PSN for your LJ should be able to be tracked down from this texta body number if it is legible.

I just ripped the tag off and there is no number written on the back!

The chassis number is definitely a B.

What to do from here!

Bugger. In that case you may as well just consider it a Torana S until proven otherwise.
