Hi
Does anyone know this car for sale on Australian Muscle car sales. It's in Brisbane?

I'm interested in it and waiting for more information. If anyone out there has seen this car or has any information about its condition please PM me. I would be particularly interested in its originality and whether it carries all of its factory bolts ons. The engine is claimed to be matching numbers.

Thanks
Terry

The first sentence of the ad is a lie. "Rare unmolested SLR 5000 Torana."

I have requested more information on what is not factory correct in car. I want carb, intake etc. to be numbers correct.
Can anything incorrect be seen from photos?

I agree that unmolested would indicate a complete numbers correct car. Not sure that's the case. I'm in WA so need the information first that's all.

Looks as if it has been molested at some time, could be wrong but i thought late 76 cars had the newer type booster? has a bunch of bits that looked to be changed, I know the car is 40 years old but 80gs it needs to be perfect.

Car must be un-registered as MCS85 does not come up on the Qld rego check. Unless the plates have been changed over.

How picky do you want to be mate?

I can see incorrect rocker covers. No heat pipe for the auto choke, no stove pipe to the air filter. Dash cut for aftermarket radio. Incorrect seat belts. Washer bottle mounted incorrectly. That other bottle might be a radiator overflow? Not sure why its there?

Please someone correct me IF i'm wrong.

from the photo's   , wrong centre console,  wrong centre inset on steering wheel,  wrong under dash colour,  wrong seat panels behind front seats,    ID tags have been refitted with wrong rivets,  steel straps on washers bottle,  wrong oil filer cap,    painted bonnet  catch.

really small things for a 40+ year car.

How picky do you want to be mate? I can be stupid picky if you want? But perhaps this car was not built to be 100% correct?

I can see incorrect rocker covers. No heat pipe for the auto choke, no stove pipe to the air filter. Dash cut for aftermarket radio. Incorrect seat belts. Washer bottle mounted incorrectly. That other bottle might be a radiator overflow? Not sure why its there? Incorrect fuel line from pump to carb. I don't think that inlet manifold is correct. Charcoal canister not connected. Bonnet latch plate should not be painted. Incorrect Master Cylinder. Incorrect hose clamps. Incorrect battery terminals. Bonnet hinge springs incorrect colour. Boot hinges incorrect colour. Incorrect horn cap. Incorrect door lock knobs (chrome). Missing inner seat hinge cover. Seat mounts on top of carpet instead of underneath. Did LX have ash trays in rear doors? I think ash tray was in the back of the console? Are those rear seats correct? Don't look bolstered like SL/R rear seat upright? ID tags have been removed from car and refitted with generic rivets. Best check that all the numbers match up.

Like I said, this car may not have been built to be 100% accurate.

Not many 100% original perfect cars around. Even less for sale.

Think the big stand out thing is it is a Sienna Trim car and has slate instead.

Hanra, that back seat is correct for a LX SLR they didn't have the bolstered seat like a LH SLR. I think that the door nobs are ment to be black on a LX aswell. Its not perfect, but it is closer than most, cheers Aaron.

Thanks Aaron for clearing that up. My LX knowledge is definitely not 100%.

I had two Mandarin LX 5000's both far more original than that car. Not critising the car, but with what is not correct, I think it is overpriced.  But withg recent sales of all make Torana's increasing significantly of late, higher

prices may be achievable nowadays.  Good luck to the owner I say.

As for your car Brad, put it back on the market now and I bet you will get good dollars for the beautiful thing!
