What things should a newbie look at, as I'm in the process of finding a car restoration shop for my LX Hatch.

The obvious things in my head are;

  • Reputation / cost
  • Finished projects
  • WIP projects (bear metal through repair to final clear coating )
  • Cleanliness of the workshop (my garage is 5s why shouldn't a quality workshop be the same)
  • Talk to previous customers

Is there anything else that you would look at when choosing a car restoration shop ?

If you are in Perth, then maybe avoid somebody in Cairns.

And if your Cairns avoid someone in Perth ......lol

Just ask around who has had work done by someone which is always a good starting point

How about you give your location. Many of us have had good and bad experiences. We can share better if we know where you are

If it were me looking, I'd also see what tools they use, filler brand, paint brand ect aswell. I think he actually asked what sort of things to look at to tell a good shop from a bad 1, not who is good or bad. So hopefully it's answered the question. Gary.

How about you give your location.

Yep, every time you ask a question the first response will be, where are you located?

City or state is usually good enough.

I could suggest one or two shops in Cairns.
