G'day all,

A friend of a friend has just bought some 14x10 and 14x8in Hotwires for his LH/X (presumably with flares) and is struggling to find tyres to suit the 10in rears.

What size would be suitable, who still makes them and where can you buy them?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Broads

I know people do it anyway, but a 10" rim is too wide for a 265/50R14, you really need to step down to a lower profile tyre with the wider rim?

Unfortunately it's getting near impossible to find wider tyres in smaller diameters nowadays.

265/50 r14 from bf goodrich - silvertowns - basically TA's without the raise white lettering.

Pair it with 245/50 r14 for the fronts on the 8's. Normally done on 7 and 8 inch rims but probably work on 8 and 10

Antique tyres - google em...

it's so bad, i might throw my rear 14's away and buy the reproduction 15's on ebay for $1,000

and then can get sumitomo 295's for $220 off ebay etc

(will look tad odd if i end up only buying the rears.. as "wire" a bit thicker on the repro's... but near half the price of full set)

I used to run 14 x 10 and 14 x 8 Hotwires on mine, with 265/50 and 225/60's. Alternative option for the front is 245/50.

Get off the drugs, a 265 is fine for a 10" wide rim.

I wish you would put as much energy into researching the correct answer as you do being deliberately argumentative. I said that "I know people do it anyway", but that doesn't mean they should be doing it.

From this website: http://www.carbibles..._bible_pg4.html

For 50-series tyres and above, the rim width is 70% of the tyre's section width, rounded off to the nearest 0.5.

A 265/50R14 tyre has a 10.43 inch section width, so 70% of that equals a rim width of 7.5 inches (up to a maximum of 9" according to their calculator).

If you actually read my comment, I said you need to go to a lower profile tyre.

For 45-series tyres and below, the rim width is 85% of the tyre's section width, rounded off to the nearest 0.5.

A 265/45R14 tyre also has a 10.43 inch section width, but 85% of that equals a rim width of 9.0 inches (up to a maximum of 10.5" according to their calculator).

So as I said, a 265/50R14 is too small for a 10" wide rim, whereas a 265/45R14 is not.

Look in ADR24, it's all there. In case you can't find it, a 255 section width tyre that has a 55 or lower profile is a legal fitment on a 10" wide rim. Same applies for a 265 section width rim. Stop looking at shit websites that give wrong info.
