Hi, keen to hear from anyone who has put 235/45 17 on a 8" rim on the front of their lx torana. Info on back space and mods required would be great. I realise that flare will need manipulation and inner wheel well/firewall will need modification, but would be good to here / see what has been done and experience.

Jayson.

These are 235/35/17 on 17x8.5 wheels with 5.25 inch backspace.

Didn't need much to fit apart from trimming the flare. The flares are haphazardly fitted so if yours are well done then may not need to do much.

Of course yours are 45 series not 35 which may present problems with the extra diameter.

Using that size.
Yes firewall mods are required in the usual spot.
Also had to trim the flare at the front.
Sorry cant remember offsets, been on for some time.

Mine are 255/40R17 on 17x9" wheel, some tweaking required:

Blonde moment.
Those front tyres on my hatch are 235/40/17.

Getting as much backspace as possible will help with clearance. With 15 inch wheels you are a bit limited as you tend to run into the upper ball joint. You can go much further in with a 17.

I run a 235/40/17 on 17x8 with 4.5BS. It just clears the bottom front edge of the front flare without having to cut it.

Thanks Growla. Purchased tyres today will play with them when they arrive to determine backspace, but 4.25 - 4.5 seems to be about right
