Hey Fellas

Whats peoples thoughts on this, I'm chasing a head like this for my 8/72.

http://www.ebay.com....ad/222461736939

I realise its been ported, so its not original, but I assume many of these heads would've been modified over the years.

Thanks.

Bryan

Perhaps it's just my old eyes or the camera angle or something but that head looks like it's suffering from valve seat recession.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is valve seat recession, what causes it and can it be repaired?

Worse than the recession we had under Keating.

It was the "recession we had to have!"

It's where the valve faces and the valve seat wear so the valve moves upwards into the head.

Car can still run OK with this issue. Your Ol'red will as is had self adjusting hydraulic lifters......Until the problem starts to effect running.

Some cars on LPG suffer from it and can burn valves because of it especially when valve clearance checking/adjustment is ignored.

Fix is new valves and seats.
