Wind the balancer bolt in the end of the crank and turn it over with that.

How did you set the rear main seal up?  The last few 308's I have built have been fairly tight due to the rear main seals. I have been using graphite grease on the seals to try and settle them in a bit but they are still tight.

Read somewhere newer rope seals are made of harder material than originals hence more difficult.

Noticed that come & sam's performance used correct sized round to belt them in.

Come has decent youtube clip showing how they do them & how easy they should turn.

Can also be converted to neo-seal....think my current early red engine was built with one

Hate them with a passion personally. Agricultural at best.

could the assembly lube have anything to do with it ive read that to much lubr between the bearing and the crank doesnt disperse therfore making it tight around the crank

just a thought

Once a rope seal goes in, it will be hard to turn. They have to be tight on the crank otherwise they leak. Factory fault. That's why I hate them.

How tight though if i was to turn with a torque wrench what pressure would i be expecting for it to turn at ?

I had to use a breaker bar to turn my last one. I was so paranoid about it being too tight but once it started and was settled in was fine. No leaks either so far.

When I did my rope rear main it was the same.

Had to use a breaker bar to turn it also.

I was worried , all work out in the end & no leaks
