Ive been given a quote to do a basically full re trim on my lj 4 door. just want to know if im being taken advantage off.

hood lining redone with insulation in roof, glass out, pillars done.
all seats trimmed black vinyl, checked for damage and fixed
new carpet as well as dynamat layed down.
new door cards with trim fitted, i will supply door handles and armrest.
new kick panels
carpet parcel shelf

i will basically be dropping the car off and they strip out and do what they need to do. How much do you guys think?

Around 4k if there not using special/hard to get trim would be in the ballpark i recon.

I have a 4 dr LC full trim done. Seats in correct trim and black and white hounds tooth. 4 door cards made to GTR spec. Loop pile carpet and underlay. Head lining with new pinch moulds around door pillars. No windows in, they also installed parcel shelf, re trimmed visors, front kick boards, door handles, arm rests, seat belts, chrome sill covers. It was drive away all complete.
Super Trim Coburg $5k 5 years ago.
Cheers

Not sure why this thread came out twice but anyway.

i was expecting 5k myself, but that was from reading around on old post, if your paying 5k 5 years ago i would expect a little bit extra now days.

they wanted to car for 2 weeks, he was a nice guy, i went down there looked at materials and told him what i wanted. I have no suspicion he is dodgy or taking the piss and has done work on old cars before. just wanted to know everyone elses opinions.

Go get more than one quote. It does sound expensive to me.
What suburb is the trimmer from? Have you seen any of his other work?

i think it priced about right as a drive in, drive out job.
It includes $600gst, new window rubbers, materials, loads of labour and contingency for frOck ups and reworks.

If you do most the r&r work yourself and assume the risk of damage, breaking glass etc, then you'll save plenty of dough.

Location should factor in your comparisons too, trimmers in Perth will be vastly different to Brisbane for example.

Just trying to think what I paid... I'll dig the receipts up.

But the vinyl and cloth trim cost $1000
Upholstery work on the F/R seats/console armrest/pilar trims/door top trims. $1500
Rubber kit $1000 or thereabouts.
Pinch weld was $10per metre. How much is there?
Door trims from cools I think were $800
Carpet was pretty cheap. Bout $150
Carpet underlay $100
Headlining $200
Parcel tray $100
Kick panels $40
Contact glue/random clips $100

That must be close to $5000? And I did all the work myself except the door trims and covering the seats etc.

Reminded me one thing i didnt ask if they suppy the pinch weld.
Already got new rubbers everywhere, just may need new ones for front and rear glass which was included in the price.
It would be great if i could do the work myself but that of very few jobs i would happily pay somone

Ive put my lj seats in both front and rear.
Full strip..re tensioning or replacing wires..padding...trying to find ash raydo material inserts....if not then black white hounds tooth.
All mechanisms serviced.
2500...i thought that was half reasonable.
So a full interior like yours youd expect around your figure give or take.
My upholsterer mentioned that basically for him to do a full interior depending on whats required he says expect to pay 5k to 7k for a decent job.

Sell it and by a 2 door. Worth investing $7k on an interior then!
