Does anyone have an LH/X instrument cluster out of a vehicle and could measure the resistance of the voltmeter windings around the bi-metalic strip. Marked Black & Pink on the back of the housing. The other 3 gauges are about 13ohm from memory but the voltmeter is obviously not a 5v needle.

Has anyone had any succes re-winding a burnt out gauge?

Thanks mate.

I guess I'll need to know the gauge, length and resistance of the nichrome wire to get it working accurately again.

I've unwound the old burnt wire off. It's not broken but the insulation has burnt off the majority of it.

How long does that wire measure once unwrapped?

The guy at Automotive power & electronics north Rockhampton did some slr gauges for me years ago, he was good & fair on price. Gary.

Is your gauge working? Another guy has measured his and its 360 ohms working fine.

I've rewound shiploads of these, no problem.

The VDO Voltmeter windings wire resistance is 351 ohms.

Thanks Chris, your a champ. What gauge nichrome wire do you use when rewinding? Can you suggest a brand/gauge to use?

To be honest, I've never measured the gauge or the length as it comes from the supplier already cut to the correct length/impedance.

How about I just send you one..?

PM me your details and it will be done.

I think he's around farm street bomber roughly. Been a long time, but he was very helpful & easy to deal with. Gary.
