Brad does each gauge in the cluster have a similiar type of winding like you have referred to your volt meter thread?
If the regulator and sender is ok on Marks' cluster, where would you look too next?
Cheers Mark.

The volt gauge is 351ohms and is not powered by the voltage regulator but rather the 12v rail.
Sounds to me that the nichrome wire on his gauge is burnt out. Best to put a multimeter across the terminals on the back of the cluster and see if its 13ohms or O/C.

I presume then that the most common cause of gauge failure would be if the sender wire was to short to ground, this would cause the nichrome wire to burn out or the 5 volt regulator to fail.
Would you find this nichrome wire locally in say J-Car or are you best to source through a instrument repair shop.
Have you repaired a temp or oil pressure gauge before.

The 3 gauges would generally fail due to Voltage Regulator failure or chafed sender wire to ground.
The volt meter.....? I could only think that perhaps wear and tear? Or a U/S alternator regulator has caused the voltage to go to 18v for a period of time and burnt the insulation off the wire and causes it to short out.

O/C is what I use for Open Circuit.
