Has anyone tried using a different style of seal for the hatch?

I have a fibreglass hatch I am fitting up and I don't think it looks strong enough to use the original rubber seal so I need something softer.

Was thinking something like this

or this

That could work for 3 sides but I am not sure how I would do the edge at the back of the car.

Let me know what you have tried.

Matt

G'day Matt, Better auto rubber do a hole heap of different rubber profiles. Some with a single rubber flap including a slip on section for the pinch weld. I think they also have a partner company in Qld, not sure if they go under the same name.

There's also a company called: Spectrum Rubber and Panels Pty Ltd

They're in Western Sydney, can get you a phone number if you like but these rubber mobs don't seem too interested in maintaining websites...

I have the PDF catalog from Spectrum but it's too big to attach here, I can upload it somewhere if you want?

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to go sift through the rubber stores and try a few. I am hoping not to have to modify the channel in the car so I can go back to original if need be.

Try pin the Rubber Shop man down in his Brendale shop.
Normally pretty helpful and plenty of options you might be able to adapt.
