Im after some specs for a wheel alignment in an lj torana fitted with a v8. Tough streeter with the odd trip to the drags.
also too how long would the bolts need to be, i understand these are 7/16 unf?

thanks

Factory specs like in Max Ellery's basically for crossply tyres & 6 cyl heights but can set it to those at home then drive to wheel aligners if can find one game enough to touch v8 lg-j Camber best bet is getting bunch of shims then do it by eye to get into ballpark. When did mine with 1" raised pedders springs & 18's ride height was near enough to gtr spec so with tape measure did castor to those specs then bit of chalk & tape measure can do toe-in rolling car forward/back. Camber was a biatch to go from crazy neg camber to 1-2 degrees.

Its pretty close as it sits. Just wanted some specs to get it to drive nice and bolt lengths.

Can't seem to find my antiquated max ellery's to give specs but got height off lower control arm bolt & went from there in book.

Vaguely remember bloke saying 1.5deg & 2 deg maybe less for camber for radial tyres & me being heavy frocker

(1" raised pedders,hq stubs & 18" grange rims)

Was easy to drive, tad heavy parking like most cars...being v8 you wont want to push them through corners on small tyre/stock rear end anyway unless death wish.

D.I.Y method

Measure radius rod thread set at 15/16ths of an inch or 23.8-24mm

Toe do ol' skool set with tape measure & chalk then roll & measure again

Still used all factory bolts ect instead just added pack small shims for adjustability then aligner took 1 or 2 out to get it 100%

^That's good enough to drive on untill properly checked by aligner.

Just remember no 2 cars are same & wheel alignment specs/opinions

Ive driven the car its drive-able and the alignment is pretty close, just need to get it finished off.
what about castor? and what do you think of adjusting castor via radius rod? ive been told to get decent castor you will need to adjust the radius rod?

my main concern is its alot heavier at the front end so im not really sure what would need to be done to get some handling back.

Shims do camber & to some degree castor then fine tune radius rod to what aligner wants..fit quality front tyres that grip to get the most out of it.

Did castor/radius rod to manual specs which was pretty good for normal driving...you'll always notice heavier front end....the ability to push a corner with 6cyl waiting to understeer or oversteer out are a thing of the past.

5litre/5spd lc gtr was a handful on straight piece of road....nobody was game enough to try some corners with it lol.
