Hi gents.thought i better ask to see if
Any of yous have used a long wand from the
top of inside roof down to the corner of
scuttle to treat it..i want to weld down the scuttlepanel but its a pita to reach once its
down + would have to remove the butyl mastic
in small section to treat seal the weld..
Just seeing if anyone has done it and that
there is no obstruction to the passage to
corner..the 3m cavity wax wont b here till
nxt week.

cheers Maz

I found that if it rusted under the door frame. Its blocked. And if it rusted on top down low on the end of the scuttle it isnt. Some times there is a big lump of mastic and sometimes there isnt. . Just fill it up and it gets in there. I do it on the rotiss and move around. Or drill a small hole in the window lip corner up from where you welded it. Fill it up with wax/fish oil. Then guick small weld to plug the hole.

Thanks Mike .never thought of drilling small
hole in lip or spinning it on the rotisserie
once treated.i found some long flexible steel
cable bout 10 mins ago just to see if it goes
all the way down from inside roof and it did
both sides was only 5mm thick though.

Now i gotta do it lol..ive ran out of
excuses.. thanks again..

Cheers Maz

I've been thinking about doing some rust prevention on my car sooner or later.

What's the best products to use?

What's the pro's and cons of fish oil vs cavity wax? Is one more suitable for different areas than the other?

Fish oil tends to dry up pretty quickly
though doesnt it .thats what ive read while
cavity wax keeps working.

In my personal experience over a reasonably short period of time ~11 years......

Fish oil is shit. It smells like crap, even the deoderised stuff. It lasts 2-3 years then you start to see rust again.

Cavity wax is the go. It forms an impermeable watertitght layer, is fairly heat tollerant, zero recurrence of rust in things treated with cavity wax in the span of my experience and it smells nice.

I will use one in my cars but not the other.

Cheers.

I agree bomber & yes not only does it smell like shit, but it is shit ! You can even use new oil, engine & atf, shell make enzis fluid, as we've discussed before, but i recommend doing it after the paintings finished for obvious reasons.

Realisitcally old sump oil tipped everywhere is about as good as fish oil, cheaper and smells better to.

I wouldn't use 2nd oil bomber as it can contain metal particles.
