Hello

Finally after 14 years i have another torana. A little bit of a different direction then I was intending but I think Iv made the right choice.

A few months ago I found my first car on gumtree. It was a UC hatch. I wanted it back so bad. It was up for swaps but unfortunately we were unable to work out a deal. Then this little gem of a LH popped up locally. It had full panel and paint 6-7 years ago. I'm no Torana expert but was unable to find any rust, just a couple bits of small surface rust that I'll get onto asap.

Originally it ran a 176 and 3 speed column shift
It's now got a warmed up 202 and M21 4 speed (2nd gear grids sometimes so will have to get that sorted). I'm unsure on what exactly has been done to the motor. It does have a cam and the guy said he was told by the person he brought it off that it had a yella terra head (is there a way I can check this? Any markings if I pull the rocker cover off or anything?) also runs a 350 holly, extractors and 2.5" exhaust. The compliance plates also say it's running 3.55 gears in the diff ( again any marking on the diff to confirm this without pulling it apart?). Again the guy I brought it off said he was told it had HQ front brakes. How do I check this? It doesn't have HQ stud pattern as the studs measure 108mm across and I believe the HQ studs are 120mm across?

It originally run a front bench seat they swapped it out for a couple of race seats. I'm not a huge fan of these but they do the job and standard torana seat cost an arm and a leg along with a console that I'll be chasing eventually.
The door skins are a lovely brown so they will get some black dye over them. It's also got new dark grey carpet.

I would love to do SLR 3300 or GPAK paint scheme but the yellow is a bit dark and i think it might look a little funny but I'll have a play with some black tape just for a look.

It's going be be a very very slow project but that's cool as I'm over the moon just to have it.

Cheers
Kyle

Cheers guys. Things will happen slowly. When ever I get an hours or so when the little ones are having a nap.

The first two they go I have to do is give it a good service as it hasn't been run for a year and Susa out what he best was is to go about some rust prevention with fish oil or what ever else there is out there.

Looks like a great pickup Kyle.  Well done.  Before you change the colour of the door trims I suggest you have a look at "MY '76 LX Project" build thread.  Sorry don't know how to copy the link.  Anyway he has done a remarkable job and retained the brown interior with Chrome yellow and I think it looks really good.  Just a thought.  Cheers Ron

Well I think Iv lost the torana already. The young block absolutely loves it. Gets so excited when we go outside. Wants to just walk around it and hop in. Then looses his shit when it's time to get out and lock the shed out.

I would love to paint it up like that. Just worried it won't look right with the yellow being a bit darker. Would be so cool though as you never see any around.

I think black can really enhance the colour. If you go the stripes, I'd also go with tail lights and grille. Anyways, nice car mate, enjoy!

Thanks mate. Yep I will definitely be doing the grill and tail lights.
I'm going to mock up some slr stripes with some black tape I have. I'll put some pics up when I do to see what you all think too.

Went to the shed and had a play tonight.
Got the black tape out and did a very rough slr mock up. I actually think it looks great. Was very unsure as the yellow is quite dark. Will pull it out into the sunlight tomorrow to get a good look. Obviously the front and rear isn't done but if I do get it done it will be full slr 3300 paint outs.

Looks even better in the sun light. SLR paint outs are definitely going on the list.

Sprayed the door cards over the weekend. Went black to get rid of that lovely brown. Hoping the pics will work now I'm not using Photobucket.

It's your car but I like it better as a S. Not every Torana needs to be a replica. Cheers Aaron.

Finally found a replacement box. Picked it up for $300 and it's been fully record. Now just got to find some time to swop them over. 939af7c28cfa0c8169cd4d8c80763edf.jpeg
