G'Day everyone,

 

Wondering if anyone knows what the 272 1 and 272 2 numbers on these thermostat housings refer to.

 

I have the 272 2 on my 308, which needs replacing and have been offered the other one but not sure if there is an internal difference. Any help is much appreciated.

Damn! Second pic is upside down..sorry about that. Don't know how to fix it.

My guess would be that it is the second mold they used to cast them up?

Agree. The 1 and 2 (and there may be 3,4,5 and 6 and more) will be tooling numbers.
