Yep, expand and contract on the bolts will make them effectively loose.

Just like an over heating engine effectively makes the head bolts loose.

Too many engines become trash as not enough mechanics are aware that a head retension is a must after an overheat.

^ yes, and many an extractor fitted leaked like this been fixed the same way.

on my race car i just held the headers in the vice and then proceeded to grind down and straight edge flat. Once flat then there should be no need for a gasket. 

 

fiddly buy worth the effort in the long run.

 

If lazy then just use more goo + gaskets on both sides
