Hey Guys,

we are doing a resto on what is believed to be a HQ GTS 4 door.

model: 80469QR

Trim:1316-30X

Paint: 568-12692

Trans: M20

nothing stamped for Axle or engine, which I find strange?

Anyone able to help?

Wasn't that the norm for early HQ's. Think the LJ were the same too with only the trans on the tags.  I might be wrong though.

Have a look at  "Holden VIN Identification" site and I think most of your answers are there. No good at posting links.

Hi Guys.

AFAIK the 30X trim is unique to GTS, this is probably the only reliable identifier for it to be a real one. What is the compliance date ?

The missing code for the engine & axle is a HQ/LJ thing. They only stamped code for items that were optioned, standard items don't get stamped.

With HQ GTS 4-door, they are basically a Kingwood V8 sedan, that's what the 80469 is. So a Kingwood V8 was standard with an M15 3-sp column shift, meaning that the M20 was optioned, so therefore stamped on the plate.

The L32 (253 V8) & the (most likely) GV2 (3.36:1 Salisbury) rear end were standard for a Kingwood V8, so no stamping.

Thanks Terry :)

I'll have another gander tonight and see what the compliance date is (only grabbed a shot of the options tag)

the owner was under the impression it had a 6 fitted at some stage which was why I started to question whether it was indeed a GTS or not.

But all signs point to yes so far (genuine guards and badging, factory (well atleast its only got one coat of colour on it, and there are factory GTS stripes)

Its off to get blasted next week, then we start the fun process of fixing the rust.
