I have a Lc Gtr late 71
Is meant to have a CF prefix 173 in it.
However I cannot find one anywhere

What would be the next best engine to use??
CD 173
2600S
186S
JL 202

Thanks

If you don't have the original motor it doesn't really matter,You could always put a 173 in it with some extras or something different 308.

It doesn't really matter because none of these are original, but generally the bigger the better.

My choice would be the 202 but with the addition of the LC GTR 2-barrel WW carby, inlet manifold & exhaust headers. Keep the cam at stock or near stock, to retain that good low-down torque 202s are known for. Spend your money on the head instead.

Great suggestion Dr Terry but the intake and exhaust manifolds and carby are so expensive you are probably better off putting in a 355 stroker!
