Rocket Red.

I've had good results with Holts Duplicolor in the past but that was many moons ago.

I do have a can of 3M brand Rocket Red that I used to paint my new thermostat cover (cause Supercrap were out of Duplicolor) and it seems OK except it took ages to dry from memory.

Duplicolor Chev orange-red is the closest you will get in a can these days unless you can find one of the old can. rocket red is wrong in the cans they make now for a 73 engine.

Hi all, you can get the paint mixed in 2 pack, so we don't have to keep posting it, it's protec polythane au - 625. Rocket red 10890 it requires it's own thinner & hardener by memory, but any protec shop should be able to mix it. In reality you should put a wash primer on the aluminum 1st & an epoxy on the steel, follow the instructions & you should be all good. Observe the cautions aswell, Gary.

I spose for me it's basic after doing it in the trade & knowing guys that do complete restorations. Shops will be cracking down on non trades personal buying automotive paint in the future, the labeling is stating this already, so unless you have a friend in the game, possibly buy up. I'm happy to help Gene.

The following LC LJ Torana clutch housing still wears it original factory Rocket Red overspray.

I'm not trying to say the colour/shade of the test sample is right or wrong. Just showing how the 3M Rocket Red compares.

As paints get older, & less popular, the company's don't sink the $ into the colour matching for the small sales. That's a reason why i would pay more $ & buy a brand that does. Gary.
