A few more composite photos of the car.

I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on the master cylinder on this car. At first I thought it was aftermarket but I've read on here somewhere a discussion about different manufacturers of master cylinders. I notice that the SS in Torana Tough, which has been "fully restored to exacting standards" has one similar. Would be good to get this correct.

I think I've finally got this photo thing sussed, good job too because Photobucket seems to have Sh!t itself.

Cheers,

Liz :)

Are we supposed to be able to enlarge those thumbnails somehow, Liz? Clicking in them just opens the same strip in a new window.

Once the photo is in the new window you can zoom in, at least that's how I've had to do it myself.

These thumbnail pics were the resto guy's way of bypassing the email file size restriction. The next lot of pics are all individual so that makes it a bit easier.

Cheers,

Liz :)

I like the idea of an old school tow bar.

Especially when I saw this stamped into it.

It couldn't have been made in '97 with the "Rams Horns" for the safety chains. I would have thought they would have been outlawed long before that!

Yeah Laurie, was hoping someone might be able to decipher the numbers on it. So are the Rams Horns a safety issue? I have to admit to never towing anything before and can't see me hooking up a trailer to it any time soon. It's going back on though, might prevent some idiot running into the back of me one day.

Liz :)

Hmm...really? I didn't think it looked all that bad when it was on actually but I appreciate the advice.  I'll see how I feel when it's all going back together.

Cheers,

Liz :)

Yeah, I'd prefer it without a towbar, just because I reckon it spoils the lines of that awesome butt end. But if it lays your hair back, stick with it! Great car, just spent ages looking through all the pics.

Hi Sam,

You've explained that perfectly, it probably does ruin the lines of the rear end. I never really thought about it like that at all. I might post a few more pics tomorrow, so many to go through.

So you're doing up a sedan I take it from your description?

Cheers,

Liz :)

I reckon tow bars, should only be on tow cars. Although i confess that my cluby & ss have 1. Some tool cut smack bang in the middle of the bar on the cluby, & the ss was towing a hq monaro for a while, when i start using it again the tow bar will go ! I'd ditch it Liz, Gary.

Yes, world's slowest build Liz - but getting there! I'll be going a LH paint scheme on my LX, because I just reckon it looks better, which will no doubt upset some. But do what you want on your car with the towbar - it's easy to remove if you don't like it!

Liz :)

A bit of a nasty surprise with the bonnet, might have had heavy items stored on it at some stage. Metal is stretched and so I will have to get a replacement.

Hi Jason,

I'm only quoting the resto guy actually and I'm not sure I could recognise stretched metal even if I saw it. I'm guessing that he has taken it back to bare metal to observe the stretching. He's going to source another bonnet for me as I could easily buy something just as bad without knowing.

Cheers,

Liz :)

Hope your resto guy isn't just making up storeys. I've seen a lot worse than what I see in your pic come up perfect with the right touch. Don't scrap the old one as many out there would be more than happy to have it.

I'm confident that resto guy is all good. Keeping everything from resto. Car came with it's original windscreen and the original Holden water pump as spares. Trying to clean the original carpet to put back in but will keep it if it doesn't clean-up and put repro in as last resort. I'm sure everything will work out a-okay.

Cheers,

Liz :)

p.s. I notice you have a nice purple hatch, great colour!
