-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi....Long shot...but here goes.....Would any of your members have or know off any pictures of the Carby used on the HO option Torana..I believe it was a 780 Vac sec Holley....(same as GTHO)...wondering if it was set up the same eg. Balance tube running down drivers side ,front to rear bowl...and 1 fuel inlet on passenger side...

Yes, was a 780, Ford one looked like a 780 but was slightly different, smaller. Different part number, very valuable now!

Different part number for sure. The one on ebay at the moment is Ford. I will put up some pics when I get home on Wednesday.

The carbys that came with the HO kit were a bit like the camshafts. It seems that they could either be changed by customer order, or the factory changed suppliers as they went. Unclefesta knows of brand new L34s with 650 spreadbores, and I know personally of one fitted with the DOZF 780 as fitted to the Fords with the Ford part number, and one fitted with the universal 780 as fitted new to some Chevs.

As far as the 780s go, they should have the down leg boosters and the older rounded fuel bowls.

The following photos are the DOZF 9510-Z as used on the HO Falcons.

And the Chev version.

There is also the auto choke version. DOZF 9510-U  The photo below claims it is factory fitment from a 396 Chevelle so the L34 wasn't the first GM product to carry a carby with a Ford part number. (The vacuum port is another giveaway that it was fitted to a Chev.)

The Ford version has a three digit date code of Week / Month / Year and the Chev / Universal is a four digit code with the first three numbers being the day of the year, and the last number is the year.

I should also mention that I am not an expert. I think the experts have all left the building.

Almost forgot. The HO option also included the spacer for the square bore 780 to fit the Holden spreadbore manifold.

This is the factory SL/R mule used for developing the L34. You can clearly see it is a manual choke vacuum secondary square bore.

This also shows the air horn used as the standard aircleaner wouldn't clear the float adjusting screws on the fuel bowls. (Mine has had two small holes cut into the aircleaner body and patches welded in.)

This picture may predate the L34. It is a bit hard to see in this scan, but when you look at the original poster you can see this carby is a vacuum squarebore, but the fuel feed is only on one side.

This near new L34 race car has the fuel feed on the opposite side. It has the same oil cooler as mine so I assume it has the GMH HO kit.

This is the same car with the Carby the right way round. This 780 is still sporting its standard duel feed line on the right hand side. I can't for the life of me remember whos car this was. I think I got the pics from the forum somewhere.
